“Avoca are on to a winner here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

Being regular visitors to Malahide Castle over the years, we were concerned when we heard that a new coffee outlet was opening. We were worried that the beautiful grounds would be spoiled by a new modern building, but it has been very tastefully done and just slots in so easily to its surroundings. We sat outdoors on the terrace this morning and it was lovely. It looks across a tiled and pebbled courtyard which has a large greenhouse as its focal point. It was just so relaxing sitting there, sipping on coffee, having a chat and listening to the birds. The food at Avoca, while not cheap, is absolutely top class, whether it is just a snack that’s required or a larger meal. We had the most gorgeous selection of toasted breads with home made marmalade and raspberry jam. Simple fare, but it did the trick for us this morning. We followed up our snack by a walk in the grounds of the castle. We didn't undertake the tour, as we know the place well. There are always plenty of opportunities for photographs in this beautiful estate, whatever the season. Just go and enjoy, the grounds are free to anyone who wishes to go walking, or to bring children to the large playground. The only exception is an entry fee if you wish to tour the castle - just don't forget to try out the lovely toast in Avoca before you leave. They are definitely on to a winner here.

“Trip to Malahide & The Coast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

This trip to Malahide Castle was different in as you only see 2 levels of the castle and it takes about 30 mins to do this. The gardens were beautiful and a lot of different plants from all over the world to see. Our tour guide was Noel Fennell and he was great. The whole tour took about 4 hours and the whole time Noel spoke non stop. The bus was comfortable and the commentary was good. Would recommend this trip especially with Noel.

“Something for everyone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

The castle grounds are lovely, great walks through the woods and wide open places for children to play. The tour of the castle is very good and there is also the Avoca cafe in the ground serving gorgeous food, not to mention the Avoca shop.

“Beautiful castle in a charming village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

We arrived too late for the tour, but we really enjoyed the lovely grounds and took many pictures.
A kind gentleman who had lived his entire life in the village gave us a wonderful history of the castle and its owners. The gift shop and bakery were very nice too. A young lady working in the gift shop provided us with a dinner recommendation and directions. We were able to walk to the village which was very pretty.
