I love the gardens and the position. Very interesting guided castle tour. Only proble is that only a few rooms are opened to public

“We Loved this castle”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

My husband and I visited Malahide Castle a few days after it reopened to the public. We were fortunate enough to be on a semi private tour with another couple that happened to live in Malahide. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the castle itself and the grounds are beautiful. We were there on a gorgeous day. We had a little rain as we were walking back to town but it was just sprinkling. Malahide is a great day trip from dublin on the Dart. Do not miss this castle it is so worth the trip.

“Avoca at Malahide Castle”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I've 2 Tripadvisor accounts, but want all my reviews on this page.
Being a regular Avoca diner, I drove over to Avoca, Malahide Castle this morning to have a little snoop and see if it's wheelchair friendly (as we have a disabled son who is also an Avoca fan).
What a fab location for Avoca! The newly refurbished stone buildings are tastefully done. The sun was shining and Malahide Castle looked so beautiful.
Avoca restaurant is a big, bright venue with off-white chairs (a few different styles, which is an Avoca theme in most cafés/restaurants), tables that accommodate up to 2,4,6,8 or more people. Food service is self service only -not a problem!
2 food counters to choose from, both with equally proper coffee machines - a must!
Saw some faces we knew from Avoca Cafe Rathcoole and Avoca Handweavers Kilmacanogue
Same great food! Love the menu as it's a combination of table menu and self-service from other Avoca restaurants. Pancakes looked fab and mushrooms on toasted cheese bread also on menu.
Looking forward to bringing our son there in the not too distant future.
Best of luck to you all in Avoca!

“Malahide Castle tour”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Very disappointing experience.Overpriced. Confirms rip off Ireland. Far too many people allowed on the tour. Very little information on the history of Malahide Castle and it's context in history.
