Although the name would suggest this is an Italian restaurant, a quick look at the menu suggests otherwise! We went for the well priced early bird menu (€20). The duck spring rolls were excellent, filled with lots of tasty meat and served with a rich plum sauce, the other starter of golden fried mushrooms, while well enough presented, was a bit boring. The early bird includes a minute steak, again good quality and cooked to order and we also tried the hamburger - very generous two patty burger served with decent French fries. There were some pasta dishes that didn't sound too exciting. Good if short wine list but the house red was excellent and good value at €20. Service was swift if not particularly friendly and really overall it was a good food/good value experience. Malahide is a bit of a trek if you live in south Dublin or if you are staying in the city centre but if you find yourself there then you could do worse than dine at Sale e Pepe!
