we were lucky to receive an upgrade to a junior suite with see view....and certainly also to receive 4 sunny days from the golf-gods!!!
We pretty much enjoyed the kindness of the personnel, specially at the bar...

Room Tip: sea side rooms with also view on the links golf course are top, suites are spacious

Stayed here on business and its location right at the beach makes it a lovely place to relax after meetings, even when you don't play golf. Rooms are nicely decorated, with comfortable beds and a decent bathroom. Note that rooms on the ground floor can be a bit noisy, in particular those close to reception. Service is efficient and friendly and there’s a pleasant atmosphere throughout the hotel, with the cosy Jameson bar (also breakfast is served here) as a highlight.
Public transport around the hotel is pretty poor, so to get around (and unless you want to spend your days on the beach or the green you DO want to get around - there’s nothing to do in Portmarnock!) you’ll need a car or a cab. There’s a slow bus service into Dublin (once per hour or so), count on 45 minutes. Malahide and Howth, both only a few minutes’ drive away, make a good alternative for a nice day out, or a decent meal and a couple of Guinness at night.

Second visit and still very enjoyable. Lovely hotel with very comfortable bedrooms and friendly relaxed atmosphere. Food is good and not over expensive, breakfast is excellent. The staff are friendly and very helpful although the lady at reception on our arrival was less than welcoming with not one word of greeting, efficient yes but I am glad to say this is not reflective of the general staff. The location is great, on the beach with a lovely seafront walk of about 40minutes to Malahide. The music in the bar in the evening is most enjoyable.
The only criticism is that I left behind some medication and a glasses case,I emailed the hotel but got no response, I then telephoned and was advised that they would be returned only if I left my credit card details, I agreed although in the end friends collected the items.

We stay here for two night in June, and dine in the restaurant both nights as the food was great
and value for money on the deal for two. All the staff were friendly avid helpful. Good rooms and central location for seeing north Dublin.

Stayed at this hotel with friends this week, could only get rooms for one night as the hotel was fully booked and I am not surprised. The hotel has undergone a refurbishment and the rooms are very well decorated and spacious. The staff were very attentive, we sat on the patio and had drinks in the afternoon and they constantly checked if we required further refreshments. A night we decided to eat in the bar area, the food was very good , large portions and not bad prices for a hotel.
The next morning we had a good buffet breakfast both hot and cold food was available and when I requested poached eggs it was no problem at all. The hotel is situated 5 minutes walk onto the beach and the scenery out to Howth and Malahide is lovely. There are life guards and the beach is sandy. You can drive into Howth within 10-15 mins and 5 mins to Malahide where there is plenty of bars and pleasant walks around the town or the harbours. There are some good deals to be had at his hotel and it is definitely worth a visit and if you are a golfer you will be very happy.

Room Tip: The suites have the added comfort of couches and coffee tables giving a great sense of space and you...

I recently went to Ireland for a wedding and stayed prior & after at the Portmarnock hotel which
is in an absolutely fabulous location. The staff were more than helpful, the rooms very spacious and the food very good, although there could have been a more varied menu.
Especially a great place if you're a golfer.
