Stayed for one night prior to flying ex Dublin. Staff to a person were superb. Rooms very nice, location excellent (beach + golf on the doorstep) and food very good. Jameson Bar is a great place to chill out with a Guinness.

Just checking out after staying B&B on June 17/18. We could not ask for more. Really enjoyed this hotel. Pleasant location, staff friendly, food excellent, lovely atmosphere.
The room was a good size. It was a neutral colour but it had all we needed so no complaints. The room overlooked a nice garden area with a display of palm trees and would have given the impression of being abroad. The bathroom was clean and tidy and again had all we needed.
We have stayed in 2 others in this area over the years and this hotel outshines the others.
It does not have a pool but there is a lovely beach a couple of minutes walk from the front door. There is a golf course beside the hotel so the golf enthusiasts all well catered for.
I was a bit wary and apprehensive as we got the deal for £46 on a well known finder site but this is not a bargain basement establishment.
We will most definitely will be back and would be willing to pay a few pounds more.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a garden view

Great family weekend. First time visitor and will definitely return. Family room had loads of space. Check in / check out fast and hassle free. Walk on the beach next door then had dinner in the Jameson Bar - all good. Feedback time - all this hotel needs is a pool and a better gym. Clock and water in the gym would be easy.

Hotel has been recently renovated and I have to say it is to a high standard. I stayed in a deluxe room which was very nice, clean, modern and spacious. The bathroom was great with separate bath and shower. My only complaint is there was no iron or ironing board in the room, that said when I asked reception they did send one to the room, but I did have to wait half an hour for it !
No mini bar in the room, but there is a small fridge if you want to put your drinks in it. Breakfast was good, however I was a little surprised that they only offered scrambled egg and no other choice. Views from the room of the golf course and the sea were amazing, even on a wet day !

Stayed there 3 days and nights and have just returned, it is for me simply very good indeed, the rooms are first class ,tidy and clean with all that is required. We got the reduced price and for 99 euro for two bed and breakfast I was delighted with that . It is used by the ROI national football team so standard would need to be high. Situated in a wonderful spot with a beach that goes on and on. Well impressed with the staff and the events on at night, its a 5 from me, loved the place and atmosphere.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are there but remember to ask.

I stayed at the Portmarnock hotel near Dublin last Saturday as it was for a family wedding party we were given a room rate of euros 99, instead of 129, but unfortunately I did not check the invoice until the next day to find I had been charged the higher rate. I reported this via email and they have written back to say the charge of 129 is correct.
I have spoken to 5 other member of my family to find that their had all paid the Euro 99 rate although they originally invoiced my bother-in-law the 129 rate, but he brought it to their attention before making a payment to get it corrected.
So pay attention to their invoice before you leave.

Room Tip: Don't go unless you.re crazy about golf. Big disappointment no swimming pool and poor gym

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. We take all constructive feedback on board from all of our guests.

We are sorry that you felt mislead by the rate in place at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links. On the day of that particular event, it was agreed with the organiser that three rates were agreed to be provided to the guest invited.

We hope that this will not deter you from returning to our property in the near future,

Kind Regards,

Our room had the most amazing view of the beach and golf course. very spacious and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The only thing lacking was a swimming pool. we did try braving the sea but it was freezing.
