We stayed here with friends, the hotel was great couldnt fault it our room was great, modern and clean. Breakfast was great and the kids enjoyed it and the staff were very nice. We ate in the bar area for dinner with the kids, it was fine and good for the kids. The hotel had a great buzz and will defintely be back, in fact I have booked for my inlaws to go back this week and ourselves again in February ! Would defo recommend this hotel.
Staff were very helpful. Breakfast had a great choice. Bedroom was very comfortable and the lighting around the room was excellent. This made a lovely change as many hotels we have stayed in the lighting has been so poor it was impossible to relax and read in the bedroom. Also the kettle was modern and quick to boil whereas some hotels they seem to take forever-so well done for having good equipment.
We requested a sea view if possible and got one so that was great thanks.
Location is lovely and great for walking on the beach, and the hotel is well maintained and spacious.
Thought the bar food was a little pricey. €2.50 for a small scone, jam and cream.
I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights on 13th january 2013. It was beautiful! From the moment we arrived and was welcomed by Andris on reception and checked in so smoothly and quickly I could feel myself starting to relax! When we got to our room it was lovely and warm and spacious, and spotlessly clean. The bed was kingsize with lovely fresh linen and the tv was a flat screen. The bathroom was lovely as well, with plenty of towels and loads of hot water. I had forgotten my robe and asked if it would be possible to borrow one and one was brought to our room within minutes! Plenty of tea and coffee supplied and a good kettle. The bottle of wine supplied on arrival was duly enjoyed as well! Staff very good, helpful and efficient. I can't praise them enough! We also had a sea view room which was a bonus! We could watch the planes coming in over the sea to land at the airport while lying in bed!
Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice, both hot and cold and a good selection of fruit and nuts. There was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel and we found it very relaxing and homely. The beach was just out the door and you could walk for an hour or so along the waters edge. Malahide is just down the road. I didn't want to come home, which is unusual for me as I always be glad to get home but this was such a nice break in this hotel and area! Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Don't believe the small number of negative reviews. Just go and enjoy! Love the lovely new paint colours that have been used. Well done Portmarnock Hotel! I will be back! Only downside, my husband would have liked a swimming pool.
The hotel rooms are an excellent size with king beds and very clean. We had a sea view which was stunning. We had lunch in the sea view bar and it was very good. Menu in the Jameson was average and food rather boring. This is the only fault we had and it would not stop us from staying again. Buffet breakfast was excellent with a large choice. If you left hungry no one to blame!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful they were 5 star and I cant thank them enough.
A walk on the beach and a visit to Malahide is a must.
We are not golf players but the course looked beautiful.
Spotless and very comfortable family room with 2 queen beds (smallish for queen beds), but loads of space in the room - more like a Suite. Very pleasant reception staff. We ate in Seaview restaurant first night, prices average, food fine nothing outstanding, waiting staff attentive, no complaints overall. The wedding meal the following day was fantastic, traditional but beautifully cooked and presented, generous portions. Breakfast was good, better than average "full Irish". It's a self serve buffet with excellent selection and well stocked up when we arrived down about 10.30am. Restaurant got very busy about 11 am and there were many waiting to be seated and served. However it was a very busy w/e in the hotel and they were fully booked up. Lovely views over the sea and direct access to beautiful beach - great convenient location. Definetely like to stay here again!
With an amazing coupon deal from Grab One we went to Portmarnock on January 2nd. Sometimes on a heavily discounted package you get, and can't complain about some compromise but not here. Treated as VIP's from arrival, upgraded to sea view, superb room with amazing Super King bed, flat screen tv, and of course immaculate in every detail.. Ate in Hotel both nights, seafood bar and Restaurant both excellent. Hotel has had a recent refurbishment and it is wonderful, the colours are restful and everything blends well, the men lounged around one day and the girls went off to plunder the boutique shops and coffee shops of Malahide. We will go back and could say this Hotel and the incredible staff made this a perfect antidote to a hectic Christmas!
