myself,my husband and two children(13 and 11) stayed in this hotel on 14 february 2010.the room was of a high standard, although more tea and coffee supplies would have been appreciated.we had a lovely meal ,if slightly overpriced,in the hotel restaurant and retired to our bedroom at 22.30.within 15 minutes the saturday night entertainer began his show and we were horrified to realise that we had been allocated a family room directly above his speakers.we heard every note and every key change until 1.15.at 12.30 i could take no more and dialled reception-no reply.on check-out the next morning i raised the issue with the receptionist who gave an insincere apology.i did not take the matter further at this point as the hotel was busy and i did not wish to make a scene.when we returned home my husband wrote two letters to the manager, without reply.we then tried six times to phone her but despite leaving messages our calls were never returned.i find such rudeness and bad manners appalling and in no way could i recommend a stay in this hotel.

we spent a weekend at the ocean sands hotel for valentines weekend. we booked having reviewed their weekend rate on the internet. The hotel is new, and located in the centre of the village. The room was spacious, and we had a view of the beach and the sea. the evening meal was excellent, with a harpist playing in thr backround. the entertainment in the bar was mixed, very good on the saturday, but not great on the sunday. the hotel also had food in the bar, which was very popular. attention to detail is excellent, and we really enjoyed our stay

I checked in here late December for a few days whilst catching up with family.

Check-in was fine, however I was perturbed to learn that they were offering different rates to different people which created a lot of confusion amongst guests – stick to one rate and it will save guests arguing at reception!

I was pleasantly surprised by the bedroom. It certainly exceeded my expectations of a 4* hotel in Enniscrone.

The hotel has some oddities – you can order room service, however you must go to reception to collect it? Likewise with your breakfast, you can order it thru room service, but you must collect it. There is a telephone handset in your room, yet you can only call room to room and if you want to make any external calls, you have to ask reception to connect you. Whilst I was there, they could not make any international calls and their internet service (a sole PC in reception) was down for most of my stay which proved rather frustrating when it came to change flights.

The staff have a very laid back attitude. I would not say they are unhelpful, but they struggled when it came to resolving any sort of problem. I have stayed in more remote places in Africa that have better services and facilities.

All that said, it has a great location and if you get a seaview room, the views are great. Noise can be a problem if you are residing on the first floor. It has the makings of a great hotel, they just need to improve on a few things.

I stayed in The Oceans Sands for the second time in two years earlier in this month with a large group of people and it was excellent. We were taking part in the Sligo Coral Festival. Their was 60 of us staying there and there was no complaints from anyone. The area is perfect as the hotel backs on to a lovely beach. The weather was a force to reckon with but we braved the elements to go down for a quick walk. The food and service were to be commended. I especially would like to mention Chris who was very friendly and always obliging. The rooms were nice and spaceous and the breakfast was always a treat. I am looking forward to my return again next year.

My wife and I recently celebrated her 70th birthday in Enniscrone, where she spent much of her childhood....we visit once a year from the States, and we were delighted to see a state of the art facility built right on the beach,in the middle of town. We decided to have an open bar/'fingertip' food, live music birthday party there after meeting with Theresa, the hotel Manager/Owner. She was young, charming, bright, and reasonable, with a great deal of 'old world charm'. The party was beautifully managed by her sensititive and caring staff...We had many friends and relatives from the States and England stay at the hotel for a three day weekend at most reasonable rates---PERFECT!!

Stayed here for a night at the end of October 09, the room was fine, nothing special. Smelled a little bit of smoke and did not feel as fresh as i would expect. Booked late so the rate was a bit over the usual price which is why I am being critical. for teh price I paid i would have expected more. At breakfast, they're didnt sem to be enough food to go around and we waited fro 15-20mins for tea/coffee.
Overall it did the job but i wont be back!

The hotel is ideally located for the beach and the excellent seaweed baths.
We were in a group of 12, and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff.
The rooms are spacious and very clean.
The restaurant had a wide selection of food, and the bar is very roomy.
At one point we had thirty five people (extended family) and there was no issue with service or standards.
Top quality, and will stay again
