“Return Visit had a little surprise ' Stalactites'!!!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Return visit to the Ocean Sands didn't disappoint, room clean & with a sea view. Staff very friendly. Was twenty minutes late for breakfast the first morning of my four day stay but after consulting with the manageress got the all clear for breakfast! The usual fare but with the extra bonus of fresh fruit & yogurt . The one minus --- 'stalactites' --- in the car park ! When parking your car, glance up at the ceiling & if you see little 'stalactites' don't park there as they drip a white substance on to you motor which is very difficult to remove, a credit card was useful but didn't completely remove them, it took a few requests to reception to get the offending stains removed. This only applies to a small area of the car park. Looking forward to returning next year if He who plans allows!!

Room Tip: Room with a sea view on the first floor a good choice ---- friends said the rooms on second floor we...

it was lovely to wakeup to the sounds of the ocean .........

i cannot praise the staff highly enough....for their honesty and efficiency....
i left behind something of value to me.....not only had housekeeping handed it in immediately ...they were so good to post it to me straightaway

for the proximity to the beautiful sandy beach.....for a decent breakfast (with lovely Danish Pastries and fresh fruit) and the view from the window....

Ocean Sands will become our destination of choice when visiting Sligo

We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who dealt with our booking quickly. She asked if we had any trouble parking and offered help with our bags. We were given the President's suite. Such a surprise! The breakfasts were marvellous with a great selection of cereals, juices, fruit, beverages and hot food available. Service was very efficient at all times. We had a panoramic view of the bay and the beautiful beach below. Evening meals were in the sun room and the sun shone so well we were roasted. The food was good and again efficiently served with a smile. Overall a very enjoyable stay. We will return with pleasure.

Staff were really efficient and friendly so they deserve a 5 STAR..
However the rooms were tired and worn. Room was clean but there was a lot of stains in the carpet. The bed linen was really worn... Because we were only staying one night I put up with it. I would have asked for a better room otherwise.
Not sure if i would stay again. But reading previous reviews maybe some rooms are dated while others are in the process of being renovated..

Room Tip: Specify you want a room with a view...

Beautiful location, nice size hotel, not too big, very friendly and helpful staff, enjoyed a seafood chowder that afternoon. Staying for a wedding in the village, got the breakfast at half ten, not too early! Very nice too. Had a drink late in the bar after returning back. Food, drink, B&B prices all round, I would say very good value.

We had our wedding here on the 8th June 2013 and as the title says was amazing. The food was fabulous all the guests commented on it. The service was next to none and I have nothing but praise for Teresa and all her staff including Cillian, Aoife and Clare. The attention to detail with our tables, personalised menu etc was great. The function room look amazing on the day. We were blessed to have spectacular weather and the view from the function room was fab. In the evening we had candles outside on the tables and pictures outside with the sunset. Very romantic. The accommodation was great. Our suite had its own balcony. Guests were happy with their accommodation and it was reasonably priced. All I can say is if you are considering the Oceans Sands for your wedding don't hesitate. Once again my husband and I would like to thank the staff for their wonderful service. Yvonne and Paul Swindells

This hotel was so dirty and unsanitary that my family and I left the day we checked in. We were still charged and there were stains on the chairs and the carpet was DISGUSTING. When I walked in the first thing I said was how it smelled like a teenage boy's room... you can imagine how that would smell.....I would not recommend this place.
