What can I say about this TRULY amazing hotel

Couldn't recommend this place enough, staff are amazing, views are beautiful and the rooms are luxurious. One of a handful of hotels around the world were I have been able to enjoy a bath (I'm 6'5" tall)

Having a ground floor suite was a bonus for getting to the bar and restaurant

We actually wanted to stay an extra night but the hotel was fully booked

What I will say though is that at breakfast time the food does take a while from ordering to arriving and at dinner time too, but not AS long

It IS a small thing I know, and it does take away that 5th dot as a result

However that being said, I would DEFINITELY go back again, and am already planning a return visit

Recently stayed in 'Nugget' Riverside Suite. Superb room with views over the river Moy where we watched the wildlife including a fox on the opposite bank. Very friendly staff and excellent food in the restaurant. Spa facilities also available, and I believe you can use the outdoor jacuzzis and sauna for free on a first come first served basis. Lovely breakfast the next morning in the bright and airy conservatory area. A couple of decent pubs nearby also if you need a change of scenery and the town is a 15 minute stroll along the Moy where there a few nice pubs and restaurants. We were there on Heritage day and the town was closed to traffic and very lively. Would definitely stay again if visiting County Mayo.

Stayed here for one night. Much cheaper to stay on a Sunday night. The bar drinks are more expensive than usual. Relaxed enviroment. We stayed in a suite. Massive room, very comfortable. I would not rush to stay again but if got a good offer it is worth a visit. Staff were all very friendly.

we just left the ice house and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was out of this world. We had been upgraded to a suite, and the room was fab with beautiful views. All in all a fantastic spot

Recently stayed here for the second time. Staff were all nice. Spa is nice. I found the bar overly expensive, the main drinks on offer are cocktails at €9.50 each. The hotel itself is a little bit out of town. Found the dinner menu to be just ok (However the breakfast buffet is very good). I agree with other reviews in saying its a little rough around the edges. Definitely more boutique hotel than luxury spa. Enjoyed it but wont be in a rush back.

Had a very friendly welcome to this boutique hotel and it is really nice to sit at a reception desk for a relaxed check in with a glass of bubbly if you wish rather than the more usual pedestal reception counters that are now the norm in hotels.
When we were booking we mentioned that our stay was to celebrate a wedding anniversary so it was nice to arrive to our room and have a complimentary pastry platter supplied.
Our standard room was fairly compact but as it has a full glass wall overlooking the Moy river it felt very airy and flooded with light .Our room had free wi-fi , in room safe, ironing board,tea/coffee facilities (incl home made biscuits)and excellent bed linen. The only disappointment which has been mentioned many times before is that the room felt very tired and dated with many permanent stains and marks on the furniture.
The bathroom was actually the total opposite and felt very contemporary with top quality fittings, excellent shower pressure ,underfloor heating, bath robes and slippers and a deep soak bath with the hotel even supplying candles (and matches) for a romantic soak.

We were very happy with the selection and quality of food both for breakfast and dinner and one one occassion we had a issue with a main course during dinner and it was dealt with professionally and we knew that that the issue was discussed with the chef rather than just being passed off and ignored. And again on one evening after dinner we were presented with a complimentary beautifully presented anniversary desert platter .These are the nice little touches that set the Ice Hotel apart from others.

Ballina & the ICE HOUSE are ideally situated for a 2/3 night break as its gives you easy access for trips to the fantastic beach in Enniscrone . an hour or so drive to Castlebar ,Westport , Sligo or the Ceide fields or a fantastic full day trip to Achill Island.

I went for lunch with 5 friends recently and came away so disappointed. The service was terrible, we were waiting ages for our food. It was quite expensive and the food was not really that nice. We had to ask for our full order 3 times, we got no apology for them forgetting all our order. We had to ask for water glasses numerous times. Out of the 6 desserts we got, 3 of us couldn't eat them. We all got the same dessert, when we complained the waiter would not really accept the complaint claiming there was nothing wrong with the desserts. When we left our comments on the comments card included with the bill we got a very cold response where the waitress just slammed the change back on the table and walked off. Not professional at all-if they do not value criticism why leave comment cards?? Will never go back for food there again.
