“A Hidden Jewell In The Emerald Isle !”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

My wife and I have just spent a few nights at this wonderful, historic castle.
On approach, it looks like something described in one of the Bronte sisters books.
Checking in we were warmly greeted in legendary Irish friendliness by the beautiful M'aire, and although we were slightly early for our check -in, she was more than happy to make us a pot of welcoming tea.

Sitting in the lounge, we were again, warmly greeted by Vinnie, who took the time to explain some of the castle's amazing history. A lovely man and a pleasure to speak to.

The room was utterly comfortable, quiet and lush. The full Irish breakfast next morning was everything that one would expect from a nation who are passionate about their food. and the ambiance just perfect.
Sadly, due to business meetings, we were unable to sample the delights of the highly respected restaurant, but maybe next time.

All in all, a truly magnificent welcome in the very best of Irish hospitality.
I would like to very much thank Maire and her team for our comfortable stay, and we will most definately return.
A beautiful hotel, beautiful food, and a beautiful Maire to welcome you.

One could not possibly ask for more ! See you all again soon.

Steve & Christine Haward.

We stayed on the weedend of 27th & 28th October and had a lovely time in Belleek Castle. Staff were very friendly especially Mhia who gave good advise before arriving. Our room was a fine size with a bed you could only describe as having to climb into, though I do believe there were other options. On our 1st night we went for the A la Carte Menu, they also do 2 sampler menues which we decided to have on the 2nd night. The food, service, setting were fantastic. My partner went for the cod and I went for the drunken bullock as our mains and enjoyed it very much and even more as I was offered seconds. On the 2nd night we went for the Gourmet Menu which was an 8 course meal, the Market menu which is 5 courses was not available that night. I could not say enough about the meal but everything was georgeous. Breakfast on both mornings was very good.
We had a drink both nights in the bar, which is set up as a Spanish galleon, and found the prices very reasonable and had a good atmosphere.
We walked the trails on both days and enjoyed seeing red squirrels in the woods.
Overall we had a great time and cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed Sunday the 28th October and were welcomed at the door by a member of staff which was nice the castle has a mix of style from armour to tapestries some of which are from the spanish armada ships that floundered on the west coast of Ireland. The room was warm bright and clean with a beautiful bed and a modern shower room with a big shower cubical. We dined at 6.30 in the restaurant and had the early bird menu priced at 28 euro for three courses with a slate of home made breads as an appetiser the food was excellent and so where the staff. Also very nice breakfast would certainly stay again in the near future.

My wife and I have just returned to Dublin having attended a wedding in Sligo. On route we spent a wonderful night at Belleek Castle. From check-in to departure we experienced wonderful hospitality from staff who went out of their way to make our stay a really pleasant experience. I would particularly single out a very attractive front of house Bulgarian lady who ensured that all our requirements were met as we sat in front of a cosy log fire (for three hours or more) in the Armada bar.We were upgraded to a large room (no. 5) at the front of house with spectacular views overlooking the very large front lawn. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have slept in with beautiful bed linen. The breakfast was also a tour de force, freshly cooked by the hotel chef, a lovely lady who came out to greet us and personally took our order. Unfortunately, time did not permit us to explore the lovely forest walks around Belleek but it is our intention to return for a longer stay and to also sample the evening fare in the renowned hotel restaurant. I feel that this hotel, with the benefit of a proper marketing strategy could really prosper. There are very few hotels currently available possessing the old world charm and hospitality which my wife and I experienced in Belleek Castle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at front of house to avail of wonderful views

the website describes Belleek Castle as "Historical and Romantic" that "extends a warm welcome to travellers and visitors seeking the good life" and that is honestly the best way to sum this lovely place up! We fell upon it by accident and almost didn't go because we saw the sign for it off the motorway but to get there you have to drive through the creepiest forest ever! haha but it well worth it. Owner gave us a warm welcome and an excellent deal for a cozy room that overlooked the front grounds (and creepy forest but in the distance) - we had drinks and dinner and found it the prefect place for intimate conversation and romantic atmosphere. The cuisine is superb, and entertaining as the chef will serve your filet mignon aflame on a sword. One of the many weapons on display at the castle, along with armour, there is even a tour to learn all about them (we missed it). Breakfast was also excellent and offered us a wide selection of tasty treats including homemade breads, oatmeal and smoked salmon with eggs. The premises are set well back from the motorway and we could not see any nearby houses, so it was very quiet and private. We think this is a top spot for a romantic getaway like we had.

Room Tip: take note that the bathtubs are very narrow, not many women will actually fit in them for a soak!

We were warmly welcomed and the staff is so helpful! Karin the tour guide is very imformative! You really feel apart of the castle. Sitting in the 'armada bar' (taken from a shipwrecked ship of the spanish armada) and enjoying a cup of tea in the massive sitting room in front of a cozy fire, we just really felt at home. Dinner was lovely and the dining room is luxurious. Lots of walking for those that want to leave the castle walls. An overall great experience!! Early bird dinner is a great value and enough food to feed a king.

Room Tip: Front bay window rooms are great but a bit more expensive.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at this old castle hotel. Check in was smooth and we booked dinner in the restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was served exactly as we requested. We walked in the trails behind the castle for over an hour and it was quiet and lovely and took us back in time. Our room was quirky and creaky but comfortable; we know that an old castle is not supposed to be modern, silent, and all about modern-day luxury! We had the best time at the Armada Bar, where Sinead played the most gracious host in the owner's absence. We had a great time with her; she and the castle will remain in our memories!!
