“Let down at the downhill”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

we recently booked 4 double rooms for a family wedding at the downhill two of the rooms were lovely and spacious and were finished to a high standard but two were small and very cramped the shelf where the kettle was,was too far away from the socket so you had to boil the kettle on the floor, there was scum marks on the shower and a washed out blood stain on the bedding, the rooms were very cold at nite and the breakfast was rather dryed up! we found the staff to be pleasent and very welcoming and the grounds were very beautiful the hotel is very central to to the town, there is also a great pool and spa there,

We stayed for a night breakaway, at weekend, as a family of four, great value. Food was excellent, staff were lovely. There was great music in bar. Great swimming pool. It is very near the town of Ballina. If you looking for a peaceful break, This is a quiet location. It is about 20min drive from Enniscrone beach.

Excellent hotel, family run, very friendly staff, couldn't do enough for you, what ever was asked of them they obliged without question, we also stayed last year and couldn't believe owners and staff remembered us. Not modern hotel but lovely and beautiful surrounds, rooms clean and large (we are family of 6 and sufficient room for all of us) food out of this world, pool v well maintained and guarded, staff great with kids, will definitely return again, thank you downhill house hotel :)

Stayed here recently for a family event. The service was brilliant, lovely Irish staff who couldn't have done enough for us. The hotel itself is a bit dated but for the value you don't mind so much, it was clean and cosy. Swimming pool was great and the kids enjoyed it. Food was surprisingly tasty in the bar and fine for breakfast, breakfast waitress was a star and so great with the kids. Overall very happy for the price!

Excellent spacious room, secluded location very near to town centre and all amenities. Staff were uniformly friendly and professional. Both main restaurant and bar menu were very good. All-in-all, a very enjoyable stay and we would recommend it unreservedly. Family run but all staff were excellent. We used the hotel as a base for salmon fishing in the River Moy. Early starts were well catered for with a night porter to provide a very early light breakfast and packed lunches were also available. Easy parking in the grounds.

Room Tip: Look for new wing and ask to be separate (if poss) from tour groups.

The downhill hotel could not have been better for 14 guys on a golf outing.
The rooms comfortable, location great and the meals were stellar !
The family who owns and runs this hotel could not have been better to all of us.

The Internet connections could be better- very spotty
