Enniscoe House is my most favorite place in the West. The breakfasts are absolutely the best in the whole of Ireland I have every experienced. Dinners are also sublimely delicious with the entire package wrapped in an aura of hospitality which is unmatched for miles around. Price is so reasonable and this gem of a place will always be on my list to stay when visiting Ireland. Just hope this a hidden gem of a place will always remain my secret shangri-la.

Stayed three nights and were given 'The Major's Room' which had a fine view across the lawns towards the Lough. The room was enormous with a very large bathroom containing an antique toilet , a wonderful free standing bathtub and a separate shower .
The downstairs rooms are charming with family portraits and heirlooms going back many generations and the owner Susan Kellet maintains an excellent standard of hospitality in her family home.
The food on each evening was enjoyable, varied and well presented with a menu that changed daily and the wine was not expensive . We found the piped music at both dinner and breakfast intrusive and far too loud, and we did ask for it to be turned down (we would rather have had it turned OFF as being completely unnecessary). The windows about the house were badly in need of cleaning, which was a pity given the lovely views. No keys are supplied for the guest bedrooms so we felt obliged to lock valuables in our suitcase.
The walled gardens are not to be missed , if you are a guest at the hotel there is a separate gate and no admissions fee is required.

We stayed 3 nights in a 4 Poster Room in this lovely Georgian country house overlooking the Lough. In fact it had a second bedroom through which we walked to our bathroom. Our room was spacious and comfortable, although a separate shower in the bathroom would have been a bonus.

Guests can wander freely round the lovely gardens which are open to the public during the day. They are away from the house, so the house's peaceful atmosphere is unaffected by garden visitors.

Dinner and breakfast were very good. We were never asked to taste the wine and, on the last night, had to send a bottle back. It was readily replaced.

The highlight of our 8 night trip to Ireland's West in April was our visit to Enniscoe House. The house, its decor and surrounding countryside were dreamy. Hospitality was first rate. Susan Kellet was a delightful, engaging host. Dinner was divine, the wine list comprehensive and breakfast exceptional. Our lake view (Medallion) bedroom was massive with a fireplace, four poster, comfy bed with lovely linens and an enormous tub in the bath. We loved the walled garden, the drawing room with original wallpaper and furniture, the short walk to the lake , the dogs after dinner and cows in the pasture. The house was chock full of art, books and style. Who could ask for anything more? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return next year.

We didn`t know what to expect as we drove through the parkland dotted with cattle. The lovely Enniscoe House, though, proved to be a winner. We were welcomed by the owner, Susan Kellett who with her son runs the house. The mansion house is gracious and has a lovely welcoming character, and has 6 guest rooms. Our room overlooked the lake and parkland and had some fine old paintings and furniture, and very high ceilings. Pre dinner drinks were served in the lovely Drawing Room with its crackling fire before we were taken with the other guests into the Dining Room. Here each party had their own table which suited us. The dinners were superb - 5 courses of delicious food using organic vegetables. There was a choice of two dishes for each of the three main courses. Coffee is taken in the Drawing Room where Mrs Kellett came and spoke to each guest in turn. She made us very welcome and is a fountain of knowledge about Ireland. If we return to the area there is no doubt we will be going to Enniscoe House again. The faded elegance and indiosyncracies of an old family home are more than a match for the corporate blandness of the modern hotel.
