“Wonderful break”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

My wife and I had a two night break at this hotel 26-28 Nov. '13. It was our third time to stay there twice in the hotel and once in the Courtyard apartments with our daughter and her family. This is just a lovely place and a great hotel. The rooms are excellent, the food is excellent and the grounds of the estate just marvelous to walk through. If you are interested in trees, birds and Irish wildlife generally this is truly the place to visit - even in early winter. And the staff - just wonderful from Valerie the duty manager, Paddy the lady who looked after our breakfast each morning, Stephen who looked after the bar and served our evening dinner in the bar and the man whose name we didn't get but who kept the three log fires going - they couldn't be more helpful. We have travelled quiet a bit both at home and abroad but put simply this is probably the nicest hotel in Ireland.

Driving south from Northern Ireland, we found this gem in the Manor House Hotel book ...
outstanding spot... would have loved to stay longer. It is out of town, as most manor houses are, so being tired, we didn't want to drive into town to go to a pub... What a delightful surprise... fabulous dinner...
Probably paid more than we were planning, but felt so pampered!!!
Would love to do one of their golf trips!

Room Tip: We only saw two rooms, but both were luxurious, and you're out in the middle of an estate... all...

Stayed in a lakeside chalet while attending a wedding. Some family members stayed in the hotel, others, especially those with children, stayed in chalets. Chalets very comfortable, kitted out to highest standards with EVERYTHING required to suit our 3 generation family. Breakfasts in the hotel superb every day with wide range of choices. We did some s/c but meals in the restaurant just a dream every time. Staff were so willing to ensure little ones were catered for suitably. Pool & spa a great hit with everyone & grounds superb - suited us all. I sincerely hope I have occassion to stay there again - highly recommend it. Service, food, accommodation & the most helpful staff made it a holiday to remember & a Superb Wedding venue.

Room Tip: Chalets gave us space & opportunity to come & go with the various members attending the wedd...

We are just back from our 2nd stay in Mount Falcon. The 1st was last August when we stayed in a lakeside lodge and we couldn't wait to return. This time we stayed in a woodland lodge and they are absolutely wonderful. We travelled with our 3 year twins and grandparents and found the freedom of the lodge with all it's self catering facilities paired with breakfast in the hotel each morning a complete winner for us. A special thanks to Paddy in the restaurant who took such fantastic care of us each morning and also Deirdre in the spa who went out of her way to arrange treatments for myself and my Mam. Exceptional service, wonderful food, stunning location and fabulous accommodation makes this a place that we hope to return to again and again!!

This was absolutely gorgeous! From beginning to end I couldn't fault it. The staff are professional but truly friendly - bedroom stunning - huge comfy dressing-gowns -
Breakfast was lovely and dinner in the restaurant was amazing --- they have one fabulous chef there.
The grounds are delightful and with the autumn colours --- just lovely.
Leisure centre also lovely --- my husband asked for a glass of water --- within seconds a jug of iced water with lemon was produced --- our every wish seemed to be anticipated.
Has to be one of the nicest hotel experiences I've had - not only in Ireland but around Europe -- well done Mount Falcon!!!!

Just back from a two-day mid-term break. Had considered Harvey's Point or Solis Lough Eske in Donegal, but Mount Falcon (although a 4 star) seemed to offer a similar experience and setting, but at less cost. We stayed in the main hotel, standard room which was lovely, and a bathroom that was huge (too big actually, I could see no point to all that space - there was a standard-sized bath and you could have fitted a small swimming pool in there!). Bathroom fan was exceptionally noisy and stayed on for ages at night - in the end I put a sheet of paper over it which deadened the noise considerably. No fridge in the room was a surprise - we like to keep a bottle of white wine in the room when away - we ended up keeping it cool in the car, just bringing it in at night! Lovely bar, but very small - can't imagine how they cope when the place is busy. Lovely lounges with log fires. Great pint of Guinness. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Breakfast on our first morning was a huge let down. My wife had Eggs Benedict (lovely apparently) and I opted for a full Irish. I got served two totally dried up wrinkly bits of back bacon and a cold sausage. No-one came near me to ask if everything was okay so I just loaded up on toast and croissants. I did complain as I was leaving to our server Paddy - she was very apologetic and said that all breakfasts were made to order. This was definitely not the case - the bacon had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp (or similar) for way too long, and the sausage was barely warm. She offered to get me a new breakfast but it was too late for that. I had expected to see some sort of adjustment to the bill as a result, but it didn't happen.

We had very nice bar food on the first evening (burgers) and a very nice meal in the main restaurant on the second evening. On the second morning we both opted for the Eggs Benedict, which was delicious - so maybe the poor experience the previous morning wasn't typical.

We both had spa treatments too - not cheap but these never are and the facilities are very nice.

All in all, a very relaxing trip and I'd like to think that we will be back!

We stayed in The Courtyard which are self contained 3/4 bedroom houses a few steps from the main hotel. They are beautifully furnished to a high standard - most of the bedrooms have ensuites. The houses are fully equipped with everything you would need. Ample parking is provided and you feel that you are part of the hotel - without being constraint to timetables, etc. Would thoroughly recommend this estate for a relaxing break - a breakaway from the madness. Its only a short drive into Ballina - would recommend a drive up to Pontoon - beautiful scenery.
