Dined here during our staying in January and have to say that the food was delicious.
I have eaten in many restaurants over the years but having eaten here on 2 occassions have to stay that it is one of my favourites. Everything on the menu was cooked to perfection.
The restaurant offers two menus, the first is priced at about €45 for 3 courses and the second is the a la carte. As dinner was included in our stay we were able to choose from both menus.
Both menus are unusual and included some of the following for starters - goats cheese pudding, thai fish cakes, crab and avacodo (delicious) blue cheese salad, quail breast to name but a few.
Main courses included, rabbit, pigeon, salmon, pork belly, steak and the most perfectly cooked chicken with almond crust.
Desserts were also delicious. I tried the pistachio slice with apple sorbet. The sorbet was just as it should be with lovely flavour and completely smooth and free of ice crystals.
the restaurant was completely booked on saturday night which is always a good sign.
I also believe that if a restaurant pays attention to the little, some-times overlooked details such as providing an interesting bread selection generally everything else to follow will be of a good standard as is the case with the Pier restaurant. A must visit restaurant for anyone in the vacinity of Ballina.
