“Home Sweet Home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

I've been living in Foxford for 3 months now. I have a wonderful view of the River Moy where a hero and a cormorant couple enjoy the river too. Right across from my home are a male, female and fold horses who keep me company. Town is quiet. There are a number of lovely restaurants, pubs, hotels, and lest I forget the Foxford Woolen mill which has just about everything for the home ( non electric though)

“Take some time out...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

"Quaint" that's the word that springs to mind. A lovely little village that's clean and tidy. Has a bit of everything and is easy for access to Castlebar, Swinford, Ballina etc.. Take a trip to the Woolen Mills well worth a visit.

“You don't know what you're missing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

You'll never get to know a town by stopping by for a quick look-see. Foxford is one of those Irish towns (really a village) that deserves a closer inspection. Firstly, the people are the salt of the earth, friendly and genuine with strangers. The riverwalk provides a pleasant venue to meditate along the rushing Moy River, that provides some of Europe's best salmon and trout fishing. Any of the pubs afford opportunities to share a pint, meet up and share stories with the locals. Sunday night at the Mayfly hotel's lounge rocks with traditional music played by neighbors and the occasional visiting fiddler or banjo player who are welcomed to sit in. Also, a room away is a gathering of folks joyfully having the craic with the recently revived Sean Os dancing. There are numerous walks and hiking trails emanating from Foxford and into the gorgeous surrounding mountins, hills, valleys and lakes, maps of which are readily available from shops or the tourist offices. Each trail or walk is rated for ease or difficulty. Best place to get a map,and the world famous products of the Foxford Woollen Mills is at the mill itself. That is reviewed elsewhere on this site. If one has but time for a short visit to Foxford, the mill is the place to see. Exceptional local and European cuisine is available at its restaurant. There is much more but I recommend that you find one of the local B&B's, and get friendly with your hosts and the locals to unlock the hidden treaures.By the time this is read, and with the help of the divine, County Mayo will e the 2013 All-Ireland GAA football champions! Not unlike the agony suffered as a Boston Red Sox fan, we Mayo fans are looking for redemption by winning the big prize for the first time since 1951!!! Up Mayo!!!

“Very Beautiful village”

Very homely, warm and has a lot of great wee pubs. The people are very polite and friendly also. Just a short drive outside of the village and you will be met with beautiful scenery.

Foxford is one of the most beautiful villages I've visited in Mayo county, on the banks of the River Moy.
