The good part of the review...

Good location - centre of Foxford.
Excellent meals available in the bar downstairs.

The not so good part of the review...

The room was average condition - could have done with updating.
We could not get any sort of breakfast as we had to leave at 8am.
The fire alarm went off in the night and no-one checked our room to ensure we were out safely-we were just informed "we thought other guests would have knocked your door"! luckily it was a false alarm.

My bf and I were staying at another hotel actually but we weren't too pleased with the amenities on site so we ended up at the Mayfly. The bar was great and the staff was incredible. Got talking to our bartender Ciaran who--get ready for the cheese--really made our trip special! we had a nice gab with him at the bar, so friendly, and he also suggested we stop by for breakfast in the morning after getting us a taxi home! Went back for breakfast which Ciaran made (it was fantastic--YUM!) and had another gab and he pointed out a few local attractions for us to visit which we hadn't intended on seeing initially, very glad we did. We went back for a few drinks at the end of the day. It really was first class service. All staff was incredible, but Ciaran really stood out. Next time we're in Foxford, we're DEFINITELY staying here!! :)

Stayed at the Mayfly midweek during July 2009. Booked last minute online.Foxford was halfway house between Ballina and Castlebar. Room basic but very clean with tv, iron etc. For a one night stay didnt need any more! Food in Poachers was fantastic!! Couldnt praise it enough! The staff were very friendly and the pub itself had a lovely atmosphere.Couldnt fault anything! Breakfast was huge and very tasty! For €55 a night b&b for 2, we will certainly return!! great value! Much better than a b&b!

Had an absolutely fantastic stay here. The staff are wonderful and there is a great atmosphere in the bar, especially on a Sunday night at the tradtional music. There is a great menu and all our needs were looked after food & drinks-wise. Our room was lovely and we got a very good rate that included breakfast (which they serve until 12 midday!) Really looking forward to going back.

We had our wedding reception in The Mayfly Hotel in October 2007, the location was perfect for the size wedding we wanted. We dealt with Veronica the whole way through planning our big day, which was great because she knew exactly what we wanted and how to get it done!!! All the staff were brilliant and everyone commented on how gorgeous the food was, it was great to be able to have different choices rather than your normal run of the mill wedding food. The location, the food and the friendly staff are what make our wedding day stand out from all the rest and its one we will treasure thanks to The Mayfly.
