“A lovely, lovely place”

Fantastic location, beautifully clean rooms and wonderful Irish hospitality. The location is breathtaking, remote and peaceful yet still within very easy reach of Belmullet. Hannah is such a wonderful hostess and had very reasonable bike hire rates too...the tandem ride into Belmullet was one of the higlights of our holiday!

Spent a couple of nights here about two weeks while holidaying in the Mayo/ Galway area.
While the accommodation was fairly good all round a special mention must go to Hannah and Gerry at Leim Siar.
A top class B&B in a stunning part of the country.
The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable and the welcome and atmosphere was very warm and genuine and the breakfast certainly didn't disappoint.
Well worth a visit.

The owners and staff were very friendly, helpful and relaxed. The food was great and our room was very comfortable. We loved the location at Black Sod with the famous lighthouse and the spectacular view of Achill Island; a short walk up to Faulmore offers a panorama of the islands of Inishkea, Duvillaun More and Blackrock, especially lovely at sunset. In all, it was one of the best holidays we have had.

We were delighted with Leim Siar - Location is terrific, accommodation clean and very comfortable, breakfast very tasty. Hannah gave us a great welcome and was very helpful to us in planning our day around Erris, and gave us loads of tips around places to visit. Blacksod and Erris is a gorgeous place.

We really enjoyed our stay in Leim Siar. Its a great B&B, very spacious and lovely interiors. Our room was very nice, like a hotel room. Our host David was very welcoming, showed us around and was really nice to chat with. The drive out to it on the Mullet penninsula is beautiful. The views up the hill, turn left out the gate are really gorgeous. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Léim Sar, at the southern end of the Mullet Peninsula on Ireland's west coast, is a real jewel of a B & B. Léim Sar is located in the little community of An Fód Dubh (Blacksod), right on Blacksod Bay (Atlantic). Down the street is the lighthouse that sent the June 4, 1944 critical weather report to the Allied Command that resulted in the decision to go ahead with the D-Day Normandy invasion. Walk up the road 2 km in the other direction is the Atlantic with a dramatic view across the water of the heights of An Sliabh Mór on Achill Island. This country road winds past an old cemetery at the edge of the sea and some historic ruins. There is also a wonderful golden sand beach a little past the ruins. We were there on both rainy and sunny days and the scenery was enjoyable whatever the weather. The B & B is owned and operated by Hannah, with the able assistance of her husband Gerry. When we stayed there, Hannah was assisted by several capable and enthusiastic young volunteers from Germany and Belgium. The B & B has a water view -- is about 2 blocks from Blacksod Bay (Atlantic). The interior is spacious and light-filled, the flooring is tile, the heat source is geothermal - the interior temperature was perfectly comfortable with the tiles body temperature instead of cold like tiles usually are. Our bedroom had a sea view, was large, spotlessly clean, the beds were good quality and comfortable. The bedding and toweling was pristine. The bathroom was very clean and everything was in good working order. There is a large sitting room with ocean views from large windows on two sides, 2 very comfortable long leather couches and a large screen TV. There is a good view of the organic garden from the sitting room. The breakfasts featured a generous amount of fresh fruit salad, a variety of yogurts, wonderful pancakes... the full Irish was excellent as to quality and quantity. An extra special bonus in this B & B was Hannah herself, who has an engaging personality and is a natural B & B hostess. It will be the rare guest who does not warm to Hannah!
An Fód Dubh (Blacksod) is a location that will not work for everyone. This little community is not a center of commerce - indeed, there are no restaurants or shops in the vicinity. We ended up driving to Belmullet for dinners, which is a 15-20 minute drive. However the road is good (and straight) with some nice views. We did not mind the lack of businesses as our aim was to spend some time in a remote, beautiful spot (like the tip of the Mullet peninsula.)

Surprisingly it was raining when we arrived at eco friendly Léim Siar B & B on the tip of the remote Mullet Peninsula but Hannah's welcome was beyond compare in her very confortable house. Irish breakfast was generous and excellent.
