Blooming Wildflower Cottage
Ranked #54 of 75 Dingle B&B and Inns

It's no secret that the Dingle Peninsula is blessed with some of the most scenic coastline in Ireland and all of Europe. If coming to Ireland, this is an experience with charm and breathtaking beauty that deserves a few days or more. So grateful to find a charming B&B that, literally, puts guests on the sea. Reading other glowing reviews and just want to bask in it - what an amazing experience!

My wife and I were hoping to book one of the seaside suites but timing with those booked had us tucked away in a quiet but spacious nook on the other side of the property. We are a stickler for a cozy and comfortable bed and am surprised we ever woke up - when we did there is a glorious setting over the Dingle bay and breakfast suited to our requests by one of the warmest hosts we've ever met, Marianne. Some people were checking out downstairs so we had a peek and, if you can time it, is pretty much the best location you can find anywhere on the peninsula. Writers and artists will be in heaven! What we loved most is that we could have peace and quiet on the seafront but be, literally, only a 5 minute walk to the village.

On a personal note, I'm not the biggest B&B guy on the planet and love my privacy but this cottage struck the perfect balance. We felt completely unplugged from our world but knew they were there with a question or request for Irish music or intimate place for dinner.

This is our first trip advisor review of a hotel(or anything!). When you have an experience like we just did with the Cottage it makes you want to share the experience. Good luck and safe travels!

We had a very warm welcome and cottage is full of charm. Hosts and other guests great to chat to over breakfast - and view from breakfast table out the back across Dingle bay is superb. And just 3-4 minute walk to town centre.

My wife and I, and my sister, traveled to Dingle in early June and stayed with Marianne and Tommy at their delightful B&B. They are gracious and warm hosts and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the cottage was within walking distance of town. The view from the breakfast area and back porch was wonderful, and the breakfasts were great as well. If you are looking for huge rooms, anonymous hosts, and the ability to return drunk at all hours of the night, then B&B's may not be for you. But if you are looking for a family run B&B with reasonable rates and welcoming hosts, then The Blooming Wildflower is a great choice. It was one of our favorite B&B's in the entire trip.

My husband and I stayed in the apartment for a week in early June and loved it. Since the weather didn't cooperate every day the week we were there (lots of rain and wind some days), the little porch shown in the advert was a great bonus. The apartment was clean, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was easy to use and there was a washer and dryer in our apartment as an added bonus! Since we were traveling light and needed to wash out a few things, this was wonderful. Unfortunately, we booked a tour the afternoon we needed to wash our clothes(we were pretty much out). We could have done it in the evening, but Marianne said she would wash them for us! That was greatly appreciated. All in all, we had a great time because of our hosts and the facility.

We are a couple in our mid-late 30's who were traveling to Ireland for the very first time. We stayed in 4 B&B/Guesthouses during our stay in Ireland and Blooming Wildflower was easily my favorite! Marianne and Tom are two of the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet. Happy to engage you and answer questions but never intrusive. We had some wonderful chats with them over super tasty breakfasts (French Toast) regarding sites on Dingle(and in Ireland in general) as well as Irish genealogy.
We spent two nights in The Captain's Quarters, found the room to be on par with the size of all the rooms we stayed in Ireland and the bed was amazingly comfy. I got a great nights sleep both nights. The bathroom was spacious with a small shower stall. We had a table and chairs in the room as well and I noticed the room was decorated with some local items including lamps from Louis Mulcahy Pottery. It all felt very comfortable. The views are gorgeous and being able to walk outside the room, see the harbor and hear the gulls singing was just amazing and everything I'd hoped for when I booked the room.
The location was great. Short walk into town and easy access to Slea Head Drive. We walked to and from town at all hours and felt 100% safe. We parked where we were told (across the road) and had zero issues. We inquired ahead of time (as one should do with B&Bs) about the payment type preferred (Cash) and was happy to oblige. Wifi was a bit spotty but we had that issue throughout Ireland.
I would absolutely recommend Blooming Wildflower to anyone who enjoys the B&B experience. Great breakfast, lovely hosts in one of the most uniquely beautiful locations in the world. I still think about the place when I'm drifting off to sleep at night and imagine I will continue to do so for quite a while.

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the Blooming Wildflower Cottage. Marianne and Tommy were wonderful hosts and bent over backwards to make our extended weekend memorable as well as comfortable. Small things are important! As the weather was pretty unstable and the evenings cold - Marianne put hot water bottles in our bed! It was just like being at my grans! We felt coddled. The breakfasts were specially prepared and delighfully presented. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us.

Did I mention the views and the location? The view from our room over the Dingle Peninsula was food for the soul. And the location of the cottage was close enough to the high street to walk and far enough from the high street that we weren't bothered by the evening entertainments.

So the rooms were on the small side - a small price to pay for such a lovely place -- and don't forget to take home some wildflower seeds from Marianne.

RE: Great views, Great service, Great hosts.

Dear Guest from Wales,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. I sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding your stay with us in May.

I remember you well as you were our first guests from Wales. We were delighted to meet you. You were great guests. Tommy and I want to thank you for giving us such an enchanting talk about your lovely village of Raglan and the history project you developed that now has us ready to pack our bags for a visit to the old churchyard and Raglan Castle.

It was great fun to have you at our breakfast table and to hear the witty conversation between the Welsh man and the Kerry man. They kept us all bemused listening to their chat about famous Irish horses and their ability to swap stories about Irish culture. Some mornings we wish would last forever.

Our welcome mat is certainly out if you should ever travel this way again. We were much impressed with your good manners and your impression of Irish life and the way you fit right into Dingle life. It was our pleasure to have you as guests.

Sincerely,
Tommy and Marianne

My husband and I just returned from a month's stay at the Blooming Wildflower Cottage in Dingle. It was absolutely delightful and among the very best B&B's we stayed in during our year's travel in Europe. We stayed in the "apartment" which was self-catering, so my review pertains to that; however, our friends joined us and they stayed in a B&B room and were quite pleased too! Because we stayed in the self-catering apartment, we didn't have the full breakfast, although our hosts invited us too; but, we did partake of the excellent yogurt, brown bread, warm scones, and coffee! So tasty! Our friends enjoyed their "cook to order" breakfasts.

Top 8 reasons to stay at the Blooming Wildflower Cottage
1. Marianne and Tommy, the hosts and owners are absolutely delightful. They couldn't do enough for us and extended many, many kindnesses! We had fresh flowers, a hot water bottle for a cold night, etc., etc. I dare not mention all of the special things they did for us! Suffice to say, we felt pampered. All of the positive reviews about the hosts are true! It's easy to see why Travel Advisor named them as one of the EXCELLENT B&B's for 2013!
2. The location is excellent, right in town! Imagine walking to the pubs, restaurants, marina, grocery store, and all of the sites in beautiful Dingle in 5 minutes! We felt as though we were part of village life. Parking was convenient, just across the street.
3. The "apartment" which is self-catering, had everything we needed to live comfortably for a month, including: oven/stove with 4 burners, oven, and grill; sink, dishwasher, French press, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, serving pieces, wine glasses, cups, placemats, cutting boards, comfortable King (or perhaps Queen) size bed, etc., etc. There is also a TV and DVD player. It's so easy to walk into town, purchase healthy and local produce and meats and cook dinner in the cozy cottage. (See a photo of one of our dinners!) The apartment is also en suite with bath/shower (great water pressure), sink, toilet, space to store toiletries, clothes hampers, etc. Even rarer, it has its own full size washer/dryer and if one wants, one can hang clothes on the clothes line in the garden with a view of all the flowers and the Bay! The apartment is cozy and perfect for a couple. The soft shades of blue are very calming and restful. The apartment was quiet, with only occasional sounds as one might have in a happy home and light traffic on the village street.
4. The apartment, B&B room that our friends stayed in and grounds are beautifully maintained. We had weekly cleaning because we rented for the long-term, but the hosts surprised us by an extra cleaning before our guests arrived to stay in the B&B. We could have had an extra cleaning at any time.
5. The garden is so lovely. It is alive with wildflowers and plants in beautiful pots. Marianne has a Wildflower business, helping to preserve some of the beauty of Ireland! There are cozy chairs and tables in the garden, although it was a bit too cool for us to sit outside on all but a few days during our stay prior to "tourist season." The garden/patio space is shared with another B&B room. We met delightful guests from France, Australia and the States as we came and went about our stay.
6. Close to attractions and sites around Dingle. Marianne was excellent at recommending places we might like to visit from archaeology sites, a drive around the scenic Dingle peninsula, restaurants such as Out of the Blue and the Goat Street cafe, music or "sessions" to hear traditional Irish music, and times for the fresh air market displaying locally grown produce and products!
7. Excellent communication and business arrangements. We made our arrangements via e-mail with Marianne. It was easy to do so and she was very professional and personable. We used our credit card for payment upon arrival and all went well.
8. The hosts have arranged everything from the point of view of the guests. For example, the apartment contained beautiful hard cover books, e.g., Maeve Binchy and other Irish authors among other well known Stateside authors, DVDs of movies made locally such as Ryan's Daughter, brochures listing local attractions, etc.

I can't say enough about this delightful B&B and the hospitality of Marianne and Tommy! The apartment is perfect for a couple who wants to rest, rejuvenate, and relax! As so many guests have stated, they can't wait to return!

Room Tip: I recommend the "apartment" which is self-catering. You can make your own breakfast, or p...
