“Just a fab place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2009

My husband and I stayed at Castlewood House recently and it was just out of this world. You could not ask for a nicer place to stay and the hosts are just lovely. Beautiful bedroom and bathroom and of course the beautiful view. I had read many of the reviews and was curious to know if it would be as good as people had said and the answer is yes, yes, yes! The porridge to by the way is worth trying, i loved it (and i'm not a porride person normally) and the rest of the breakfast was lovely too. We will definately go back, possible later in the year, with some friends that we were telling about the place.

We just returned from a Irish holiday and were lucky enough to stay one night with Helen and Brian at the Castlewood House. While it was the most expensive B&B we stayed in, it is incredibly fairly priced. The rooms are generously sized and the bathrooms are spa quality. Our hosts ensured our comfort and fixed a delicious selection of breakfasts for our group of 5. In the middle of a long trip, the luxury of the Castlewood House was a welcome treat! Thanks for the good times!

Castlewood House was amazing. Helen was a great host-- incredibly friendly and helpful without being overbearing. They seemed genuinely interested in hospitality (as opposed to many B&B owners who appear like they got into the business because they happened to own good real estate). The house is so elegant and decorated with their own antiques and art; at the same time, it was very welcoming and our room was like staying in someone's house (but in a good way). The breakfast--cooked by Brian--was wonderful, in a light-filled room. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is deserving of the TA award for sure. This is one of the best places I've stayed.
The only downside is that it is about a 10 minute walk to Dingle. Granted, it is along a (rare for Ireland) sidewalk and is also well lit, but if you are a single woman I might not want to make the walk alone.

We had a wonderful stay here. It was my mums 60th birthday present and we wanted something really special and we were not let down! Helen and Brian were fantastic hosts and made us very welcome from the moment we arrived, we had tea and biscuits in the lounge and settled in.

Our rooms were fabulous, very spacious and clean. The location is great with views across to the water from the breakfast room and lounge, with a short stroll into town there are plenty of places to eat and drink.

Breakfasts were amazing with an excellent choice, I only wish I had tried the porridge but there were so many other lovely things on the menu too, maybe next time, would definitely love to go back,.

My parents loved it so much they have booked to go back for 10 days this year!
Highly recommended.

Castlewood House is a picture perfect, purpose built B&B overlooking a small cove of Dingle Harbor within a 5 minute walk to town. Filled with charming antiques and an impressive collection of art, I was amazed to learn from Helen and Brian that Castlewood had only been open two years. The lounges, bedrooms and dining area have the wonderful coziness of well loved slippers while the modern baths are up to the minute in contemporary amenities.

Breakfast was to die for! Trying to eat light in Ireland is futile so I dove into the melt-in- your-mouth scrambled eggs and salmon, followed by a generous helping of porridge with dates, honey and creme anglaise, Of course the breads with homemade jams were also irresistable. So another day of dietary failure passed deliciously!

Helen, her husband Brian, who greeted us graciously when we arrived and did the breakfast cooking, are consummate hosts. Our very loveliest stay in Ireland.

By far, this is the best B&B we have ever been to. Believe everything that the other reviewers have said, and stay here when you go to Dingle. Better yet, make a special point of going to Dingle just to stay here. You will not regret it.

Stayed 2 nights at Castlewood House, July 2, 3, 2009. It is unbelievable. Rooms are beautiful, breakfast delicious. The hotel is a short 10 minute walk, on a well lit, sidewalk, into town, and yet the hotel is very quiet at night. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Just stay here, and enjoy your vacation.
