“Perfection in Dingle”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

I wanted to take the time to write a review about our stay here. This B & B doesn't miss a thing. The breakfast is the best we had in our 10 day stay all over Ireland. Even as we walked out the door on our final day, there was fresh coffee and to go cups waiting so we could enjoy it on the road. Helen and Brian were so lovely and helpful at every turn. We would return and this stay was a highlight.

This is one of the best B&B hotels we've ever stayed in. Brian and Helen are wonderful hosts and are keen to interact with those staying. The quality of the rooms, both public and private, cannot be faulted. Although the building is relatively modern, the interior is classy and full of character and the attention to detail is superb. Breakfast is to die for! The variety of cooked options is as good as I've ever seen and cooked to perfection by Brian. In addition, there is a excellent selection of breads, pastries, cereals and fruit. It is located on the water front on the edge of the town in a quiet location. It is a good 10 minute, flat walk to the nearest pubs etc and up to 25 minutes to the far side of town. Brian is able to provide a very good run down on the pubs and restaurants to visit. If we ever return to Dingle, we will stay here again without hesitation.

The host couple have gone for perfection and done it with style! Every little detail well thouhgt and excecuted. From wellcome to goodbyes we were allways given freedom of choise out of many options given. The breakfast was on it's own glass, so many choises to choose from and tranquil start to a day. Would love to visit again. A reason on its own to go back to Dingle.

We recently stayed 3 nights and had an amazing experience. It was lovely to have a king sized very comfortable bed after some very small beds in other places. The spa bath was much appreciated by my husband after a full day of walking. Brian was extremely helpful with dining suggestions, making bookings and arranging to deliver and pick up our washing. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff in the dining room very friendly and helpful.
The only negative was the Internet was terrible but that was out of their control.

Room Tip: Harbour views are lovely

Flew from Phila to Shannon, rented a car, and drove straight to Dingle for a two night stay with family at Castlewood House. Wonderful, beautifully decorated, excellent breakfast, and gracious hosts. Brian and Helen were always available to answer any questions we had. Wish we could have stayed longer but had already planned other stops in Ireland and England. Walked to pubs and restaurants; this was a relief after spending a day driving the Dingle Peninsula. Beautiful spot in Ireland.

Room Tip: We all stayed in rooms facing the harbor (and also the main road) and had no trouble sleeping. Can...

Have not the slightest concern about choosing this lovely guesthouse. We have stayed at Dublin and London hotels with room rates many times over those of the Castlewood House and I see little difference in attention to detail and quality of surroundings. Brian Heaton (we never met Helen) is the essence of innkeeper, attentive to your situation, gracious host, always around but not intrusive, and he even takes the time to come out of the kitchen to chat you up during his fine breakfast. The state of the property and furnishings is first class with room views to die for right on the bay. Situated in The Wood, the pubs and Dingle proper are maybe five to eight minutes walk along the waterfront. My sister and I had to get along, but we wish we could have stayed longer in Dingle and in the Castlewood House Guesthouse. We will return.

Beautiful setting, room, staff and breakfast. Only complaint is we stayed 1 night. Room was clean, beautiful furnishings, whirlpool tub and quiet. Check in was full of helpful hints and recommendations. Breakfast was the best we had during our 2 weeks in the British Isles. Perfection!
