The stained glass windows and the frescoes here are gorgeous. Some of these examples of Harry Clarke's have his signature. Most impressive display. A must see, even if you don't go into the church. There was a wedding taking place, so we only peeked in. There is a good display of posters and postcards for sale showing Clarke's work. Beautiful sacred art.
Even if you're not interested in St. Mary's Church or St. Joseph's Convent and Diseart and the history within, do not miss the windows. Sit still for a while. Look carefully at each window. Enjoy, embrace, marvel. And then look again.
Absolutely breathtakingly wonderful - worth every once of energy expended to get yourself over the threshold. Do give yourself plenty of time after arrival, before you dash off!
How beautiful Harry Clarke's work is in this little chapel. His style and intense colours are truly wonderful and he is possibly one of the most underrated artists in our country. Beautiful work. A must see.
The grounds were beautiful but the stained glass windows were spectacular. It was very interesting to learn the history of the place.
These early 20th century windows have a spectacular mix of color, design, and pattern. Here is a case where photos cannot do justice to their beauty and they need to be seen in person. Now I am ready to search out Harry Clarke windows in other parts of the world.
