Large 4 bedroom cottage located a short drive from the coastal road. The house is bordered by shrubs, giving complete privacy but not impeding the beautiful view to the coast. Beds were comfortable. There is a nice open living room with a fireplace (which we didn't use) and a glassed in dining room with a lovely view. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils. The furnishings were dated, but the home was very clean and well maintained. There are board games, movies and books which would be helpful on rainy days. This home is perfect for a group or large family and an enjoyable place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. It's off the beaten path, but close enough to Ventry and Dingle that it's not far to drive to restaurants and shops. Wifi worked well, though we had to hunt for the password which was taped to the router box.
A few things to keep in mind: A deposit is required, by bank transfer which was a bit complicated to accomplish; the remainder is paid in cash. We recommend you ask Joan to come with you to the cottage to explain the hot water system and the heating. There is also a requirement to feed coins in the electric system, which is quite cheap (maybe 2 euro/day) in the summer but could be more costly in the winter as the heating is electric. The cottage is a short drive from Ventry, and 15 mins. from Dingle. It's recommended to bring groceries with you as the cottage was not stocked with any basics apart from a few spices and salt and pepper. It would be a nice touch if Joan were to provide a welcome of maybe a loaf of local bread, some milk and some fruit so there wouldn't be necessity to head out again to get supplies after arrival.
