I would like to suggest a fantastic B&B in Dingle. The Mainstay Guesthouse is a great place! Owned and run by Gus (NewJersey born) and Ruth (Dublin born) Cero, it is a reasonable (40E/pp), very comfortable place with superb breakfasts that include much more than the traditional Irish breakfast. The Ceros go out of their way to be helpful, whether by arranging local tours or providing a super-early breakfast for dawn departures and are committed to looking after their guesthouse and the guests therein. Located right in the center of town (across the street from the Captain's House), it is convenient, charming and comfortable. Guests may want to request a room facing the back, however, as there can be some pedestrian noise on the small street. Address is Dykeman Lane, Dingle; phone is (---) and website is (---)

For groups going to Dingle, the place to stay is MAINSTAY guesthouse.

In Dingle, it is not easy to find a place to accommodate a large group in a setting with a small town local feel.. We did not want to go to a big hotel, but wanted the feeling of meeting the people and getting the inside track with locals.

MAINSTAY is perfect. For two years I have gone to Dingle with groups ranging from one to two dozen people at the Mainstay. We felt like one big happy family in a happy large house.Their staff and service are so sweet and helpful and made us feel at home. Gus served us an incredible breakfast (his fritattas worth another two paragraphs.)

The location could not possibly be more perfect - right smack in Dingle town, but on the quiet street. Gus and Ruth know all the local cool places to go, where the hot traditional Irish music was playing (and Gus plays himself!). Ruth was extremely helpful last year when we needed to book activities, even on to the next town in Killarney.

Although people traveling alone or in pairs have enjoyed the Mainstay for all the reasons written in the other reviews, I thought it would be nice for people to know there is a place for a party of four, six or even twenty-plus people to stay all together - while getting the benefits of that homey local feel.

Just returned home from a great two week driving vacation in Ireland. I loved Dingle....colorful town and friendly people. I enjoyed the homemade scones fresh out of the oven when we stayed at The Mainstay. It was a comfortable home and very convenient to everything. Outstanding omelet and wide selection for breakfast. Upstairs there is a lovely sitting room that has other guidebooks and restaurant/pub menus. Would love to return and would definately plan to stay at The Mainstay. Visit the Dingle Crystal shop....lovely things from another former Waterford craftsman and plan time to drive the Slea Head Drive---much better than the Ring of Kerry (and less time).

Just returned from a relaxing vacation in Dingle Ireland, staying at the Mainstay Guesthouse. Fantastic vistas surround this incredible part of Ireland. The Guesthouse was very clean & conviently located just a two minute walk from the Marina. Hosts were very helpfull in providing tips to any restauants/pubs in the area including the best one for music. Their breakfast menu was incrediblely varied & delicious. We are already saving for a return visit to the Mainstay/Dingle Co. Kerry ( Dykegate Street ).

We just returned from a fabulous 6 day stay in beautiful Dingle on the southwest coast of Ireland. We stayed at the Mainstay Guesthouse owned by Gus and Ruth Cero. The house and hospitality were outstanding!! Convienently located on Dykegate St in the centre of town we were within easy walking distance of all the town's amenities including its many fabulous pubs. We were able to sample the Chef Gus' fablous breakfast menu and the french toast and fritattas were the best we've had bar none. An extra treat was being able to share Gus's musical connection to the local pub O'Flahertys' where he sits in on their famous sessions several times a week. The Mainstay, the hospitality and the music made our stay a truly wonderful Irish experience.

I discovered the Mainstay in March of 2004 while traveling in Ireland. The hostel I wanted to stay at was not open and the owner referred me to the Mainstay. At the time, I was the only guest in the entire place which amazed me because it was really great. The owners went all out to be hospitable, friendly and provide for an amazing experience. The rooms were very comfortable and had all of the comforts of a traditional hotel room. One stand out feature was the amazing breakfasts served every day. Travelers should definitely consider this as it's close to everything in Dingle.
