I have been visiting this oratory all my life and never fail to be amazed by how perfectly it was built without any material to bind the stones together.
Once the area surrounding the building was a wilderness. In recent years a local man has built a visitor centre and a shop. If you don't wish to be charged 3 euros a head to see a film and use his carpark drive past the first sign saying Gallarus and carry on up the road. There is parking there for about eight cars and entrance to the monument is free. There are no explanatory boards
