...and this is saying a lot since this was our first trip to the homeland of some of our ancestors. Mary and Jim Milhench made us feel immediately at home in our very well equipped efficiency apartment. The private deck, with its near views of the town and far views of neighboring hillside, was a very special place to enjoy the breakfast we made of the lovely homemade bread, jam and other provisions. Mary checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Dingle is a great place to visit - there is no more breathtaking scenery anywhere - and the town is well provided with restaurants, leisurely walks, and shopping for local arts and crafts. Did we mention the music? Visit O'Flaherty's Pub for starts.
Best,
Julie and Phil

We arrived on May 6, 2009, having arrived in Shannon a few hours early.
The proprietor (Jim Milhench) was very accommodating and hospitable. Location is great in downtown Dingle, close to everything.
We loved the efficiency units and larger bathrooms. Thanks for everything!

While the concept of the Captains House has changed, as it is no longer a B @B. The rooms we rented were very nice and located right in the town of Dingle. You are no longer able to use the garden entrance or sit on the property. The owners have built a lovely deck off the suite where you can enjoy the view of the town. The suite was fully equipped and Mary made a wonderful Irish bread with Jam for breakfast. If you rent just one of the rooms that is all you will get. The place continues to be very clean. While there is no parking lot you can find parking nearby on the street. The owners were very helpful.

Currently living in Dublin and coping with the hectic pace that comes along with it, it was time for a break - somewhere scenic, peaceful but not boring. Thanks to the good people of TripAdvisor my boyfriend and I discovered the Captain's House in Dingle. We drove down in the evening on a Thursday and stayed until Saturday around noon time. We were delighted to have been booked into the 'suite' (room 3) as all standard rooms were full. The B&B is spotless and comfortable with tons of character and Jim and Mary were extremely accommodating. We got a great recommendation for a nice dinner out (the Half Door - SO good) and when we got up early to go swimming with Fungie the Dolphin in Dingle Bay on Saturday morning, Mary was kind enough to put some scones, bread, yogurt and juice aside for our breakfast when we returned. We found the tray full of goodies in our room when we got back, cold and wet but exhilarated after our busy morning. The bed was very comfortable, the room cleaned to perfection, both breakfasts (cooked and continental) were just what we needed. The B&B is located in the middle of Dingle Town and it was a great location however it was possible to hear the shouting and singing of drunken revelers as they made their way through town on one of the nights we were there. The noise on that night would not prevent me from staying there again. I highly recommend the Captain's House on behalf of myself and my boyfriend. Many thanks to Jim and Mary for a lovely break - it was much needed!

The Captain's House was by far our favorite accomodation during our honeymoon to Ireland (that includes our 4 star hotel in Dublin)! The property is perfectly situated in the middle of town, but you would never know this from your window, as there is a large and well kept garden in front yard.

Breakfasts were exceptional. There were plenty of choices. Varieties of local cheeses, fresh fish, and homebaked scones were a real treat each morning. The breakfast solarium is so comfortable it makes you want to stay awhile.

The rooms are quite small, especially the bathrooms. I think ours was probably a converted closet! But the decoration and overall feel of the place doesn't make it seem cramped.

I would recommend this great B&B without hesitation!
