We originally planned to go to John Benny’s which was recommended by both LP and RS guidebooks for live music. Turned out however, not every evening. So ended up at the Dingle Bay Hotel - Paudie's Bar next door. Ordered vegetable soup, crab cakes and a hamburger just before they closed the kitchen (about 9 pm). The crab cakes turned out to be rather mushy (just like the fish cakes at the Wicklow Heather a few days ago – now definitely realized that any kind of seafood cakes here would not be the chunky, large lump kind I was used to in the US). For dessert had raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake, the cake part was soft like mousse, again not the NY cheesecake texture I expected. Overall found the food to be disappointing. However the live music - a 4 person band that evening– Folk and Ballads with Richie O’Brien was very good. A good way to end a a most enjoyable day of sightseeing.
