Do not expect elegant quiet dining at John Benny's- it's a pub. That said, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Venison was one of the specials and I decided it was a good time to give it a try. It came fork-tender, moist, and boldly spiced. I loved it! My husband ordered the Guinness beef stew and pronounced it delicious. We did not stay for music, but we heard from others that it was excellent. We actually went back for a second night and sampled the mussels and chicken Caesar salad. Again excellent. Only one word of caution: seating is mostly on low stools, so if that is not comfortable for you check and see if they can accommodate you.

John Benny's is an old-style Irish pub, which has extended to cater for the very busy tourist trade(foreign/domestic), to this quaint yet modern, harbour town of Dingle.
The food in this establishment is always fresh, reasonably priced and followed by a pint of the 'black-stuff', is very hard to beat, for value all 'round.Do try their Chowder, AND any of their home-made dessert;if you are really hungry, include their main-course, you will not be dissapointed. The main door, and the interior darkness, on first impressions may appear small, dark and off putting;Appearances on this occasion need to be set aside, and the 'character' of the intimacy and 'local', must be embraced, to appreciate the spot's uniqueness, and John Benny's 'character'.

We were greeted friendly enough and were seated right away (1830), no problem there. The food was bland and I wouldn't recommend the place if you want anything more than an adequate meal. I can't comment on the entertainment since we didn't stay for the band to play.

We came back to Dingle after a 7yr absence. One of the first places we ate was here as it was the place we stayed before. There were four of us and we only just managed to get the last table as the place was packed. I ordered the Irish Stew as did Frank, which was very tasty and had plenty of lamb in it, it came with a side order of vegetables. Ann-Marie and her Mum ordered the fish and chips which was Pollock. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and washed it down with several pints of Guinness.
We returned here a couple of nights later to watch Eilis and John singing and had a wonderful night. Would highly recommend this Pub.
