Ashfield Bed & Breakfast

We loved our stay at the Ashfield house. Mary was a great hostess and greeted us with a warm welcome. The rooms felt as if they had just been updated, they smelled new and clean, and the same for the bathrooms. The bed was amazing, I could have slept for a month! The bathroom was even amazing, with a bright skylight and highpowered showers (something we felt lacked in other places). The two chairs in our room, by the window overlooked the river and the mountains, and a great place to sit and relax before heading into town, which was a short walk away. The breakfast the gentleman made for us was amazing. I had an omelete made to order with my fav ingrediants, and the homemade biscuts and jams...well we could have had about 10 each they were so good. While it didnt feel like your traditional "Irish" bed and breakfast, and more like you were in a newly built home in the US, we would absolutly stay here and recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Ashfield in early March 2012. Mary,Paul, and "Pippa" greeted us with a warm Irish welcome, tea, scones, and wonderful black currant jam Mary made. Our room was comfortable and had great views. Mary's breakfast was the best we had on our 10 day trip. I agree with the former poster about the fabulous French toast! We highly recommend the Ashfield, and Kenmare is such a gem of a town. Only a ten minute stroll down a lovely street to the town center and just a few minutes further to Kenmare's awesome stone circle. We will definitely put the Ashfield on our itinery for our next visit!

We stayed for one night in Sept 2011 and just loved it, it was definitely the nicest B&B we had stayed at during our week in Ireland. We found it totally by chance so we were thrilled. The tea and biscuits in the living room when we arrived were SO welcome. The room (rm 1 we think) was so spacious and comfortable with 2 armchairs in the bay window overlooking the field and river. It is a pretty and quiet location. Even though the weather was very wet and windy while we were there, our short stay was wonderful. Mary is a lovely host, most obliging and very hospitable. We would stay again and definitely recommend it. Breakfast was great.

Room Tip: I think we had room 1 (overlooking the playing field and river)

Stayed here for two nights after just calling in by chance. One a great move the room we had was spacious with fantastic views over the river and our host Mary made our stay very enjoyable. Cookies in the sitting room for afternoon tea was also enjoyed. The breakfast was great and all in all if you are staying in Kenmare try this one first. Yes it's probably a good 10minutes walk to town but there is no problem with finding parking if you are driving. One other thing this is a great starting point for the ring of Kerry which can be done with a round trip in a day.

Room Tip: Front room with a lovely river view is the way to go if you get there early enough.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2011. Fantastic! By far the largest room and bed out of all B&Bs we stayed at. Our view from our room was amazing. This is a little bit out of town, but we walked it a few times and it took maybe 10 minutes at the most. The breakfast was fantastic as well. Kenmare is just a great place to stop in. We did the Ring of Kerry on the way in. the town itself is so charming; tons of shops, restaurants, and bars. The B&B was very clean and well kept and had everything that you could want or need. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

This was our longest stop at any B & B on our trip and Mary made it a very good one. Our bedroom was very large with room to set up our suitcases which was great. The bathroom was smaller but had a terrific shower. Only disappointment was the Wifi which was iffy. But we were able to get on most of the time. The breakfast was great with several choices--the omelets were delicious! Mary was a huge help when we had a flat tire one morning. She also called our next B & B for us since we didn't have a phone. We could have walked to town but after hiking most days, taking the car was just easy. We definitely would return!
