Oakfield Bed and Breakfast

We booked two rooms for single occupancy as we wanted to be near Kenmare and get a quiet place to get some desk work done away from home. Hospitality was great, quiet atmosphere, quick access to restaurants, comfortable rooms and beds, lovely view and surroundings, good breakfast, great hosts.

Room Tip: Tall people or someone who finds stairs difficult might ask for a ground floor room. Upstairs rooms...

Whenever I talk about our trip to Ireland, I talk about Marian and Morty O'Sullivan. I cried when I said goodbye . Morty gave us a pound of their delicious coffee...a spontaneous gesture of kindness....They were kind and loving .. as beautiful as the Irish landscape ...I cried all the way from Kenmare to Killarney! I was so moved by their kindness and generosity....It isn't always the way in B&B's....Our first night at Lacita B&B in Cork was awful....We felt unwelcomed and an intrusion...disappointing after a long day of driving....Breakfast at Oakfield was the best meal in all of Ireland.Every delicious choice on the menu was cooked by Marian and brought to the table by Morty with love..I would not ever consider going back to Ireland without visiting them! Beds were comfortable and clean....view of the bay was beautiful...horses across the road were peaceful.... But most precious of all...for those of you seeking to feel the heart and soul of Ireland .....visit this B&B.....You will carry them in your heart all the rest of your days.....They made our trip to Ireland a memory....Thank you both...God bless you....if ever you come to Canada...please look us up.....Love, Linda, Amanda, Peter and Kia....

The owners went out of their way to make our 5 night stay enjoyable and comfortable. We had a lovey room with views across Kenmare Bay and mountains. Beautiful quiet location on the Beara Peninsula, just 5km from the bustling town of Kenmare. Lovely room with balcony and we slept very well! Excellent breakfast, cooked to order with delicious home made bread! We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have the best views

We stayed there for 2 nights and had a very good time. The bnb is ideally located in the ring of Keara, a short drive away from Kenmare. The room was clean and cozy and had a great view on a field where were 3 horses. Marian and her husband were great hosts, very attentionate without being intrusive. They even offered us an early breakfast when we left for Skellig islands.

Our stay at Oakfield was superb! Our room was very cozy and comfortable with a lovely view. There was a nice table and two chairs right in front of the window where we relaxed and read for a bit before going out for dinner. It was a nice quiet location in the country. Marian and Morty were so warm, friendly and helpful! They make their guests feel right at home. And...Marian's brown bread was the best we had in Ireland!!! What nice people!!! We would love to go back someday!

Very clean, cozy rooms... had the best rest of the whole trip here! Delicious breakfast in the morning, the O'Sullivans were delightful hosts and great cooks! Sail Inn down the road had the BEST Fish and Chips of our trip to Ireland. Lots of pubs and shops in Kenmare within walking distance.

Room Tip: Stayed in the front bedroom with window... lovely

Every B&B tries to include something unique to make it memorable. Marion and Morty are so warm and welcoming that they need nothing else to encourage you to stay there...but the shower in the room we had was the best in Ireland! Our room was large with a slanted ceiling (it's upstairs overlooking the front door) and has a small balcony. Lots of electrical outlets, tea service, an alarm clock (!), TV, all the desired amenities. The breakfast is the standard, ample Irish breakfast; my husband especially liked the porridge. Marion knows every nook, cranny, and granny in the area and is ready to give suggestions to improve your stay.
