“True Irish Hospitality”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Beautiful grounds, wonderful view (especially when the tide is up), and true Irish hospitality that is hard to meet if not impossible to exceed. The outside is spectacular. I hate to go here, but I must inform of the room for improvements the beds are quite hard (and I prefer an extra firm mattress with a pillow top) and the bedding may not be the most visually appealing. All in all, the location is a quick walk to town and no one could ever fault Brendan because he is one of the most helpful, eager to please people I have ever had the opportunity to come in contact with. All in all, I would not hesitate to go back.

Abbey Court is a terrific B&B. Brandan and Ger are wonderful. They truly want you to have a great stay in Kenmare. Brendan is always helpful with directions and information. It is a short walk into Kenmare so you don't have to drive to town. The room was clean and comfortable. The view was terrific. Breakfast was one of the best we had in Ireland. I would highly recommend this B&B.

Abbey Court and its wonderful owner Brendan surely stands out from all the other places we have visited.
Brendan is the kindest sweetest man I have met, wish there were more brendans around for us all. He helped us with our travel questions, giving us maps and books for walking.
We stayed in the apartment which has everything including great power showers, comfortable beds and of course a washer/dryer.
There is also a wonderful view of Kenmare ocean from the house and wondeful gardens.
Breakfast each morning had a large wonderful choice.
The most outstanding thing was the kindness and considertaion of Brendan the owner.

Room Tip: The apartment is a must for families or groups

From the time you arrive til the time you leave you are made to feel one of the family.
On arrival you are met by Ger with a cup of tea and coffee in the lounge room and you are given information on the area and she can also suggest places to eat etc.
We were given a choice of rooms and floor and the room on the ground floor was excellant.
Breakfast was a very homely occassion and could not be faulted
The only problem we found was the location is a little hard to find as the road name in the GPS does not put you near the hotel.
Other than that I would recommend the Abbey Court to all our friends.

There's a reason whey Abbey Court gets such great reviews. It's perfect! We had our 16 yr old daughter with us and Brendan gave her a room all of her own. She loved having the privacy as we were traveling for 2 weeks in various B&B's all over Ireland. Her room had a beautiful view of the water. Breakfast was large...eat all you need and you won't need to eat again until dinner. Upon our check out I had mentioned to Brendan that we had hiked to Cummingeera the day before. He was shocked we had done so and said not many people do that. He asked if we new the history of the place and when I said I didn't he went on to tell me all about what that place was about. Our neat hike turned into one of the most wonderful things we did on our trip simply because Brendan took the time to tell us about the fascinating stories of it including the famine, murder and the death penalty. Our only complaint? The beds were really short it seemed. Both my husband and I are tall and we couldn't fit well in the beds.

This was our favourite place that we stayed during our entire stay. The reason for this was the very genuine warm host Brendan and his family. Brendan greeted us with tea and scones, gave us maps and later made dinner reservations for us. He even drove us into town because it was raining. This is a place that we will always remember because we experience true irish hospitality and everything that Ireland is renowed for. Oh, and great breakfast and awesome views over the sea from our bedroom. Stay here, it is suberb

Staying at Abbey Court was an amazing experience. We have never felt so welcome and at ease somewhere. Brendan was a wonderful host. We asked him so many questions and he never rushed us and seemed genuinely interested in our trip. We stayed in a room with a view of the water. The rooms were a good size with a small bathroom but everything was very clean. Every morning we had the most delicious breakfast! I have celiac disease and they even provided me with gluten free Irish soda bread and made sure everything would be safe for me to eat. The location was terrific and because daylight lasted so long, we walked home from town every night and felt very safe. I highly recommend Abbey Court!
