We stayed in June and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The room my husband and I had was in the rear and received the afternoon sun, at times a bit warm with no air conditioning but tolerable. My brother and his wife had a room over the street and it was a bit loud after hours. Over all it was excellent, we will definitely return.

We stayed at the Coachmans Townhouse on out first night of an eight day mini-tour of Ireland. The place was exactly as we expected based upon Coachmans’ website and the many Tripadvisor reviews, except perhaps for our superior double room, which, while spacious, clean, and comfortable, was more utilitarian than luxurious. Nevertheless, a respectable room over an Irish pub was exactly the atmosphere that we were looking for to start our holiday. The pub downstairs was very nice and lively and obviously popular with the locals, but on the Wednesday evening that we there, the staff was all business and we did not experience the friendly banter that we enjoyed at other pubs in the days ahead.

Kenmare has a growing and well-deserved reputation as a “foodie" destination, and the hotel restaurant was surprisingly satisfying in a town that has an abundance of really good places to eat. Indeed, when we took a stroll around the town square area during prime dining hours, nearly every restaurant, from pubs to fine dining, appeared crowded if not at capacity, and we were turned away at two places before settling back where we started at the Coachmans. We’re glad we did. Whether planning to eat at the Coachmans or someplace else, reservations are recommended for the prime dining hours.

Other reviewers have reported a shortage of parking near the hotel, and while I can see how that could be a problem, we landed a space right outside the front door, with the caveat that we would have to be up and out early the next morning to avoid a ticket.

The bottom-line is that the Coachmans shines as a well-run, reasonably-priced boutique hotel with a lively pub and pleasing restaurant, located near the town square, within walking distance to everything in Kenmare, County Kerry. I would stay there again.

We stayed here - a family of three - because we had planned to do some hill-walking nearby (we have stayed in various places in this area for years). We loved the downtown location near the restaurants. However, when we saw the weather forecast (not just wet, atrocious rain was due) we phoned the day before to see if we could cancel or re-book. We were told that there was a three week cancellation policy. No flexibility. Shame, because we would definitely have come back another time.

When we arrived check-in was efficient. Perhaps we are cynical but we wondered why we were being encouraged to come to the music later and bring our young son! We found the room to be clean and modern. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was powerful.

On our return from dinner at about 11pm (we had a fabulous meal in 'Charcoal') we could not believe how loud the noise was from the bar downstairs (not least because we had read a review previously that referred to the excellent sound proofing). The floor was hopping and even when the band stopped playing from time to time, the noise from the people in the bar and outside was so loud that even the television didn't drown it out! So, this is fine if you intend being with the revellers downstairs but hopeless if you want the choice not to.

Be warned.

Room Tip: Ask what is on in the bar at night, especially if you do not intend joining in.

I booked a room 4 months in advance, they called me the day I was flying to tell me they gave my room away. They actually tried to tell me I wouldn't like it there on a Saturday night because of live band It's to noisy. THATS WHY WE RESEARCED AND BOOKED THEM! The overbooking took place in February, they called me June 4th. It is like a bad SEINFELD episode, they know how to take the reservation, they just don't know how to "HOLD" the reservation, which is really the most important part. DON'T BOOK, YOU CAN PLAN FOR MONTHS AND CAN'T COUNT ON HAVING A ROOM!

We arrived in Kenmare without booking any accommodation and took a short stroll up the main street to see what was available. After setting foot inside the Coachman's we were given the keys to view a room and it was bright, clean, comfortable and big to any standard. All the staff were exceptional and the meals and entertainment were also great. The room rate was great value and included your choice of a fully cooked breakfast. The late check out gives you time to explore the main township of Kenmare or take advantage and sleep longer after enjoying the entertainment the Coachman's offer. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for an overnight stay or for a week. D&T Griffin Melbourne, Australia

We arrived in Kenmare so we didn't want any fancy dinner so we tried coachman pub which looked nice inside. The waitress was very helpful and nice. My husband had the kenmare Salmon which was very good. I had goat cheese on small fig tarts and it was very good. We shared the Baileys cheesecake which was also very good! We paid 49 euros for our meal+ wine and guiness. A very good meal at decent/reasonable prices! The music was fabulous! The o'connor brothers were playing, fantastic! What a lovely night!!

During a weekend in Kenmare, we had a group meal in this hotel and the food, service and value for money was outstanding.
The staff were exceptionally nice, I would really recommend this venue for food and service and would definitely visit again. We had a lovely evening.
