This was a new bar since our last trip, very good food and service. The menu is quite extensive and reasonably priced.

“A bit off”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

Staying in Kenmare, we passed this place a few times and I really wanted to try the crab and corn soup. Had dinner here last night, ordered the salad, crab and corn soup, french onion soup and chips. Both soups came with brown bread that was full on moldy. It's a very small place with only one man running around doing everything, he apologized and brought out pre-sliced sandwich bread to replace it and it was moldy as well. I understand it's going into the slow season but, eww... makes you wonder what else is not so fresh in the kitchen.

“Very good and BYOB too”

The variety of fish and chips combinations was very good. I especially liked the beer-battered plaice (type of sole).

“A maritime gem in Kenmare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

Fish and chips never tasted so good! This seafood bar is well placed somewhere between a fish and chip shop and a gourmet seafood restaurant, the prices being closer to a chipper while the food is certainly closer to serious gourmet. I had the hake fried in a feather light batter and served with great chunky chipper chips (think Lennox's in Cork for those who know it) and a wonderful organic side salad with blueberries throw in for a new take on things. The side of peas were a highlight mashed together with a hint of mint and certainly unlike any mushy peas I'd had before.
The atmosphere was cosy and we ended up staying far longer than we intended while picking up some great local travel tips from the friendly and charismatic properietor.
