Four of us were here the other evening and left extremely happy and will without doubt return. They have a fine menu with plenty of choices and reasonably priced, We had four main courses,( 2 half ducks. 1 Cod and 1 hot seafood platter) all excellent, this was followed by a couple of beautiful deserts washed down by a few pints of beer and a couple glass's of lovely merlot wine and a jameson all for around €130. The staff are all excellent and are a credit to the place.

We have been visiting Kenmare since christmas 2006 and will continue whilst our health allows us.The town is unspoilt by the tourist trade and still has quant little shops with numerous pubs intersperced within them.Kerry is a beautiful county with breath taking scenery.I am not sure of the figure but I think there are 24 moutains in the whole of Ireland and Kerry has 14 of them.

Kenmare is bounded on all sides by a ring of mountains. If you decide to go there from Dublin or Dun Laoghaire the new M8/M7 takes a good 2 hours off the trip.If you choose the Killarney route make sure you do not follow the SAT Nav if it tries to send you up the N71 on a good day the scenery is beautiful Ladies view ,the lakes but on a bad day you have to negotiate Molls pass 1in7 rise with a 90 degree left hander .The road starts as a wide 2 lane but quickly deteriorates into 1 lane with pull ins for passing.Molls pass is about 850 feet up and with ice and snow very hard to negotiate as we found out Christmas 2009.Better to take the N22 and then right onto the R569 straight into Kenmare.

Kenmare provdes an ideal place to tour from and once you have been you will want to go again.

When we first went to Kenmare in 2006 we tried out all the many places for food and drink looking for a typical Irish pub.We avoided Davits because it looked to modern.Eventually we tried it out and wondered why we had spen so much time eating inferior food poor service and in many cases higher prices.

We have eaten and drunk in many parts of Ireland but none compares with Davits. The service is superb and the staff are so efficient and friendly it is a pleasure to be there. The menu provides a very good selection to cater for all tastes at a very good price maybe at times it looks pricy compared to others but when you have quality it is more than worth it.

The efficiency of the staff is to be wondered at and the waiting time for food minimal even on a busy lunch time.As i have said we go each year for a week so that is 1 in 52 and yet we walk in and everyone remembers us a smile ,a handshake and then straight into conversation as if it was yesterday we were last there not 52 weeks ago.

Each lunchtime there is the main menu but also a specials menu which varies daily. The specials are not just something taken from the main to promote but real specials just for that day.If you like liver go in on a Wednesday and try the liver with cherry tomatos and red wine gravy something to die for,I have tried to replicate it at home but it is never as good and the Chef will not give me the recipe.

When we go to Kenmare it is my wifes birthday and our wedding aniversary so we always celebrate with a meal in Davits. We chose fried Kenmare crab claws in garlic and cream sauce as a starter and fillets of whiting ,vegitables and french fries. No sweet because there was no more room for it we both felt so full.A superb meal which will be repeated next year.

My wife loves mussel and will make a meal of them when in Davits .This is how flexible the staff are if a dish appears as a starter they wiill convert it into a main course just for you.I will not eat a beaf burger anywhere but Davits their Steak burgers are second to none home made and a meal by itself without all the trimmings .Each time we eat there we find ourselves saying soory for leaving anything but there is always far more than we can eat.Of course the food is washed down with a very good pint of Irish Guiness and a Merlot.

You must visit Kenmare and do not waste your time searching for food or drinrk just save time and head straight for DAVITS.We have just returned from Daavits and Kenmare the food is just as good, drink to a high standard and the sevice superb. When we visit it is like seeing old friends once again.

I highly reccommend a visit.

On a tight budget took the kids for a basic soups and starters meal, and everyone ate all their food and we spent less than €30 on dinner including a tip! It's not a cheap place generally, I don't think, but our choices off the kids menu and my chowder (lovely) really hit the spot and we left satisfied and only slightly lighter in the wallet. Great service too and nice warm decor.
