Not used to staying in hotels with kids, so was pleasantly surprised to find facilities and services for them excellent.

Restaurant has child play area - great when they get bored and means you don't worry about them disturbing other guests during meals.

Kids club available in the evening 7 to 9.30pm for that well earned rest!

Swimming pool ideal for kids and staff very chlld friendly.

We stayed in the Luxury Lodges for one week which are on the grounds of the hotel with the use of the hotel facilities. The O NLY reason we booked the Kenmare Bay was because of its facilities for children. Both myself and my husband could not have been more disappointed with this aspect. The hotel has made some effort with regard catering for children but it in no way lives up to the reviews I read or to the claims on its website. For example - the children’s play room; this is a small 'L' shaped room at one end of the hotel which is really messy and unkempt. Literally it is like a closet with toys thrown into it. The playground is very basic with unsteady equipment and far away from the hotel. There is a far better playground in the town. The toys in the Restaurant however is a good idea and works well. The Leisure Centre again was disappointing from a children’s perspective, there was some toys for children to play with which quickly became boring. I would have expected a slide etc. In my opinion none of the efforts that the Kenmare Bay have made with respect to being a hotel for family have been a success or add anything to a parent on holidays with their children. It does not feel like it is being taken seriously, they are all just token gestures with no real thought put into how to actually cater for a family on holiday with children.

Overall I found the staff unfriendly and unhelpful including those in the leisure centre. Upon check in there was no information given with respect to any services/kids club facilities etc. The bar is extremely small with steps up to it - again for a hotel which rates itself as 'child' friendly this was a bad start. We ate in the bar food on our 1st night only as we found it very very expensive. The food was ok.

The Luxury Lodges themselves were fabulous, extremely well kitted out and well kept. They also have a large secure back garden. Kenmare was a great base to travel around and the lodges were perfect from that aspect. Overall I would suggest that the Kenmare Bay Hotel itself is not living up to its potential at all.

We were very dissapointed with the quality of this hotel. The rooms were good but that is where it ended. The corridors were really outdated and in need of upgrading and appeared dirty. The dining area also needed to be cleaned up, the carpet appeared very dirty and stained. Staff were very good and it is a pity that the hotel was so poor. There was no place to sit and read or relax. The pool area was ok but again needed to be updated within the changing areas. We travelled with teenagers and they really did not enjoy it here. Kenmare itself is wonderful and plenty to do and see. It you are there make sure that you go out to view the Seals. A wonderful day.

We rented one of the little cottages and used the hotel for breakfast and gym - it was good - the gym was pretty impressive, the location was perfect for day trips for the ring of Kerry, or just chilling out in the town of Kenmare!

My husband & I have stayed at the Kenmare Bay Hotel on 3 different occasions. Each time, we feel that the hotel gets better & better. Staff remember you by name, food exceeds our expectations & the short stroll into Kenmare feels shorter : )
I have recommended the hotel & holiday lodges to many friends & family. I honestly feel it's great value for money. Enjoy your weekend in beautiful Kenmare!

Myself and girlfriend arrived on a friday afternoon for our 2 night stay, it was a long drive from Dublin so we were so glad to arrive, Checking in was efficient but could have been a little more welcoming , often a smile and welcome to our hotel really does help. But then on walking to our room we were greeted by a really hard working and friendly housekeeper who was working away and gave a friendly smile and said hello.
The Room was basic but we expected that, however there was no view at all, as the room faced a grass bank that was very high, so we couldnt see anything at all, but we didnt mind as we were not planning to stay much in the room.
The room was clean with a big bed and large TV, bathroom a little dated though.
The breakfast was good, and while it is fully self service, we were quickly brought tea and coffee with toast and then helped ourselves to as much as we wanted.
We left after breakfast each morning to explore, but on coming back in the evening we found it almost impossible to park our car in the grounds of the hotel!, it was so packed - ok there was a wedding on but we were told it was always like this, the weather was great so it wasnt too bad, but i would be a bit miffed if we had to park far away and dash in the rain to get inside the hotel...
The hotel has a nice , but small bar with an outside terrace were we would have a drink.
Over all it was ok for what we wanted.

The first thing we noticed upon arrival was that the hotel website was very deceving. Our two night bed and breakfast stay included a dinner which we booked for the night of our arrival. The room was extremely basic and dated. Nothing like the website had described it as being. Our dinner that night was somewhat shocking, the food was nice however it amazes me that a hotel manager can allow his staff to higher and lower the volume of the music in the restaurant and laugh and mess about while guests are still eating their dinner. We were so uncomfortable we finished our meal quickly and took our bottle of wine to finish in the bar. The hotel bar was lovely and the barman was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was ok however they could make more of an effort to keep the breakfast/ dining room tidy and clean. Kenmare is a fantastic little town. I would definetly visit kenmare again but I would not stay at the kenmare bay hotel and I would encourage others to shop around and don't be fooled by a hotels website! I would advise you stay somewhere else in Kenmare!!!
