“Good little hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

Stayed here for two nights last week on a short break. Room rate including breakfast very reasonable. We had a superior room which is in the newer wing and was large and airy, but we ventured into the other section which seems to have the standard rooms and they do need some renovation. Breakfast consisted of a hot and cold buffet with routine offerings - cereal, juice, and the components of a fry-up - nice, but basic. Staff were very friendly and helpful, but the bar lacked atmosphere so we didn't stay long. The hotel is only a short walk to the town centre where there are a multitude of restaurants and pubs with live music, all highly recommended if a little overpriced - but it is in the tourist area so can be expected. All in all a decent place to stay.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your recent review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.
In relation to our standard rooms, we are currently working on updating some of these rooms. Most of our standard rooms have been refurbished and we hope to complete this process over the coming months.
We appreciate your comment in relation to the bar and assure you that we will strive to address this issue. We have also recently renovated our Courtyard bar and refurbishment is to be complete over the next few weeks. We will be including many design features and hopefully on your next visit, we will be able to showcase these changes to you.

We hope to welcome you back to the hotel again soon.

Your Sincerely,
Andrew Rees

Stayed here for three days in a superior room which afforded fine views of the Kerry mountains. However the room had connecting doors on both sides which allowed for very little privacy as EVERY activity could be heard easly. The Courtyard Bar appears to be staffed by local schoolgirls whose attention to their duties leaves a lot to be desired. The quality of the breakfast is very good, but if large coach groups are staying only minimal items feature at the buffet compared to other occasions. Overall this hotel with a bit of attention can reach the heights that other hotels in Kenmare have.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us.
In relation to the interconnecting doors, I apologize if this disrupted your stay. We would have been happy to move you to a different room and again apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Our bar staff are trained professionals and have been working here at the hotel for many years. All our staff are over 18 years of age also. I am sorry you felt that they lacked attention to their duties and I intend to speak with them about this.
Please also be aware that we are addressing the breakfast issue and would like the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to showcase these changes.

Yours Sincerely,
Andrew Rees

Went to this hotel for a weekend break and found it to be first class.
It is convenient to the town centre just 3 minutes walk.
Lovely pool and facilities. And staff are very friendly A++++.
The rooms were very spacious and little more than a travel lodge.
Bar staff were well able to cope even when the bar was full.

myself and my wife stayed here for a 2 night stay ,it was a gift from our kids which was got on a special offer deal on some website.2 nights stay for 2 people with breakfast for under a €100,
I can highly recommend this hotel as the staff are very friendly and helpful ,they local staff have a great knowledge of whats on and where to go around the area, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, the rooms were very modern ,spacious and clean,The hotel is centrally located and only a 5 minute walk to the town, the town of kenmare has a great selection of pubs and restaurants to choose from,The kingdom of kerry has a lot to offer with its amazing views and scenery.i will definitely be returning to kenmare in the near future as 2 nights stay were not enough to see kerry and all its beauty,im from cork and i have to admit on a sunny day kerry has us beat for the scenery and beauty,

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are bigger

I stayed for one night for a wedding. We had a standard room in the new part of the hotel. The bed was lovely and big and we had a great nights sleep. The bathroom was gorgeous big tub and seperate shower very modern style. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the location is ideal only a 5 min walk from the town centre.

We had the pleasure of staying here just recently. there were twenty of us in our group and we were made very welcome by the very friendly staff in the hotel from the moment we arrived. The rooms were very clean and we were all located in the same area of the hotel. We had lunch in the hotel in the afternoon and breakfast the following morning and the general feeling amongst our group was that the food was top class.Value for money for our stay was excellent and would definitely recommend this hotel for either short or long term stay.
