A++++ on cleanliness.
A++++ on hospitality & accomodation.
A++++ non-smoking house.

Stayed for 1 night, April 4th before our Ring of Kerry tour. This is a nice place to stay in to jump start your Ring of Kerry tour. The town of Kenmare is more quiet and less touristy compared to Killarney a few miles away. It has great restaurants also!

Email contact with Ms. Melanie to reserve our room was no problem. Responded promptly. Mr. Patrick was so nice and friendly. He gave us tips on which restaurant to go to in town. Also talked to us about Irish customs, politics, and places to see. His grand daughter, Leonie, was such a delight. Well-mannered young girl who was eager to help her grandpa. She was on break from school for Easter week when we stayed with them and she was her grandpa's helper in the place. She took her job seriously that she wore an apron and a butler's towel when she served us breakfast the next day. So adorable! The friendliest people we met during our trip. I would stay here again!

Tip: We stayed in a twin room 2 beds and a bathroom inside. Since we were "petite" people, we were fine. However, If you are more than 5ft 11inches tall, and more than 180 pounds, you may find the room & bathroom very small. I suggest you request a bigger room.

Room Tip: Tip: 1) We stayed in a twin room 2 beds and a bathroom inside. Since we were "petite" peo...

Very nice, well-kept home on a main street in Kenmare, but quiet inside. The host, Patrick, is very friendly, nice, and helpful. He offered us another twin room when he saw we had more luggage. He also offered for us to use the main bathroom upstairs as the shower stall was cramped. He offered us fresh warm breads and tea upon arrival. Patrick treated us like family. He is such a nice host, with his guests comfort in mind. The Irish breakfast was filling and tasty, with large portions. Real brewed coffee! Patrick has a knack for this business and it shows. I wholeheartedly recommend Avelow House to everyone headed for Kenmare. Well done, Patrick!

Room Tip: Any room in this home is a treat!

Great place with great people! We called a couple of times on the way in to let them know we would be late and we were greeted like long family. My daughter needed a couple of clothing items washed and rather than send us to a laundromat they just washed them for us.

Breakfast was also excellent. My Irish breakfast seemed to be spicier and more to my taste than any of the other B&Bs at which we stayed.

Tip: The hotel is on Kilkenny Road not Independence Road. If going east on N70 turn left on N71or Kilkenny Road and Avelow house is about 1 mile down on the left.

Pat - we finally understand hurling! Thanks a lot and thanks even more for sharing your house and some of your stories with us! (And of course, for drying our clothes and for taking care of our helmets until we dropped by, again.)

In total, we have stayed with Pat for 3 nights, 3 times one night in two week`s time. The room is not very spacious, neither the shower but Pat seems to have such a natural friendliness that made us looking forward to coming back to his house. He is in the business for about 20 years and is a very warm and friendly person. It was great being his guests!

Just returned from a weekend trip to Kenmare and had the pleasure of staying in the fabulous Avalow Bed and Breakfast!On arrival after a long journey from Dublin we were greeted by the warm and friendly owner Pat!Pat really made our stay he was such a warm and attentive host!
Our towels were changed everyday and the tea and coffee facilities in the room were replenished daily!Plus there is a power shower in the bathroom!
In the morning Pat serves you up quite possibley one of the most fantastic Irish breakfasts I have ever had.He is so generous with portions offering you an extra egg or toast if you fancy it and the coffee in the morning is fresh from the perculator!
In terms of value for money this B and B is spot on!I have stayed in many B and B's in Ireland but this is by far the best I have experienced!
Another plus is that it is about a three minute walk from Kenmare town and is a stonesthrow from the local shop, handy if you need to pick something up at the last minute!
I would highly reccommend this B and B to anyone wishing to visit Kenmare!

Rooms are clean, large, well appointed and the water is hot. Staying in this B & B was a very nice experience. Pat, the owner could not have been more helpful. He knew my family, could give me some additional insights into the area and was very engaging. The location is excellent for going into town and for traveling to Sneem.

Pat is an entertaining and charming host who made us feel like visiting an old friend. An extremely sweet, helpful and warm personality whose enthusiasm and positivity are contagious. Sure, rooms are wonderful, clean and quiet, breakfasts overwhelming, showers delightfully hot after a cold day in the hills, but Pat simply made the difference.
