Owner description: Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

After the drive over the mountain, it's a welcome stop to rest and relax with good parking facilities and view over the valley. We were lucky to visit on a Tuesday when they host a Welcome Home night re-enactment with typical Irish dinner, music, song and story telling in a traditional Irish cottage. It was a fantastic night with English people, some Americans and us Australians and the story teller wove us all into his stories. They even arranged for us to picked up in the English peoples coach from our accommodation in Kenmare. The cottage is also a gift shop and has some amazing local products in a real Irish cottage setting.

Stopped unexpectedly at Druid's View and went in to Molly GallIvan's.
You can stop for tea here. As well you can look at, and buy lovely traditional Irish craft's.
The view over the valley is great too.
Well worth the stop.

This really is a traditional cottage, still with earthen floors. It sits opposite a beautiful view of the water and is accompanied by a huge druid statue. Plenty of room for parking on a well shingled area. They make some lovely pottery and have a huge stock of woollen and leather items and the prices were the most reasonable we had seen. There are old fashioned but clean toilets. There was tea or coffee with scones on offer which were delicious but we thought it a shame that the opportunity to gain from a small varied menu was missed. It is so charming and the 'dining room' was full of character. The staff were very pleasant, especially the young girl who was at the desk and also managed to make tea as well. A leisurely half day passed so quickly. there is a lot of interest here with the farm to browse around as well. It was just lovely to spend a simple morning doing simple things. And yes My Christmas shopping is all but done!

I didn't plan to stop at Druid's View but when I noticed Mollie Gallivan's I was drawn into it. If the weather had been better we might have done the walk but just looking around the shop and cottage was a delightful experience. The lovely ladies were very patient while I pondered on the exact glaze colour of my little piece of pottery.

I expected a lovely evening but was thrilled with such an unforgettable experience! It was Irish hospitality at its very best, beginning with an historic tour of the farm, a browse in the charming gift shop, and a scrumptious meal (really!!) in a cozy, 200-year-old stone cottage. After a memorable Irish coffee, we all enjoyed top-notch traditional Irish musicians playing a bouzouki, bodhran, melodian and penny whistle. Then we were treated to an authentic Irish broom dance, followed by a marvelous storyteller, Ray O'Sullivan, who combined humor, history and genuine warmth for a truly memorable evening. This was not contrived; it was the real deal. I give Molly Gallivan's ... 5 stars! ~ Pat Daley, Camden, Maine, USA
