Owner description: Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

“Delicious Guinness bread.”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Lovely place with good coffee, delicious Guinness bread and scones. There is also a good range of Irish crafts ideal for gifts. A farmyard to keep the children amused. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. A perfect authentic place to stop of on a journey through rural county Kerry.

“EXCELLENT !!! Tuesday Nights are Irish Home Coming Night - Absolutely Brilliant”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Just a couple of miles outside of the cosmopolitan town of Kenmare lies this quaint (and original building) of Molly Gallivans. Last night five in our group from Berkshire, West Cork and Limerick attending this immensely funfilled evening, starting off with the audion visual and a tour around the museum farmyard before our welcome introduction at the poitin still and a drop of the stuff to toast in the beginning of a truly memorable evening. We then sat down to a delicious and hearty homemade irish meal of vegetable soup, irish stew, apple crumble, irish coffee (including many refills of wine etc). After dinner we withdrew to the audio visual building (the other remaining house of Mollys to be met by a quartet of players who accompanied the audience participation to our fantastic host Stephen and his elderly mother and home coming brother from America. As they say we were strangers when we met and friends when we left - and this could be truly said for one and all as our faces were creased from laughing so much. All I can say to conclude is well done for bringing this truly unique and honest experience ... oh and a last final word is that I am truly "Complete" and not "Finished or Completely Finished" - especially after dancing the Stack of Barley with Stephen.(in-house joke!)

“Don't stop the car at this one”
Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

In 2013 this is not something of interest apart from foreign tourists maybe the walk through the farm is a joke and only upside is feeding the chickens. This should not be in the top 50 attractions waste if time

“Molly Gallivan's”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

It is an experience not to be missed, I visited there some time ago, the friendliness of staff and the welcome and knowledge that they share with visitor's is excellent, well done to all involved. The visitor's centre is free but a small fee is payable to visit the farm etc.

“Worth a visit if passing !”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Typical place appealing to foreign tourists,a shop full of the usual jumpers, jackets, hats etc etc etc. The cottage is worth a look to see how our parents and grandparents lived in a time before any mod cons or running water or electricity!
