Owner description: Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

A stop at Molly’s farm on N-71 between Bantry and Kenmare will take you back into another era when life was difficult and our ancestors worked hard every day to eke out a subsistence existence. It is not a sad place but one of inspiration that is part of our history and our culture. The farm speaks to us whether we are Irish or not for it’s the story of another day.
The farm is child friendly as well as educational for the whole family.
The cheerful owners will help you tour the farm and even give you a snack to feed the friendly donkeys. After the tour we were offered a cup of tea which we enjoyed. There is no required entrance fee but donations are accepted.
While there, I bought a hand knitted sweater. I liked it so much that I went back the next day to purchase an accompanying scarf.
Molly’s is a place not to be missed especially if you can attend one of the Irish music gatherings that she offers, but stay away from her poteen still unless you have a designated driver.

my sister and i visited molly gallivan's in june 2013. we were delighted with the map to follow the self tour. and we were very delighted to meet the owner and his daughter in the little cafe! he offered me a complimentary coffee for the road! really lovely! the small gift shop offered a very interesting book explaining the archaeological stone formations that we saw throughout ireland. this is the only shop where i saw this book so i promptly snapped it up. my sister also purchaseda few really unique selections for gifts and souvenirs. the tour fee is based on donation. i highly recommend this site. very educational for all ages and a perfect stroll through a family farm with ancient stone formations. i loved it! thank you

Stopped on the way round ring of beara, and started with the video about the shop foundation, what a clear and suitable introduction, did the walk around the farm display and up to the Druid markers, very well explained. Walked a little of the Druids loop walk but too hot so came back. Staff in the shop were friendly and attentive.if you do the farm walk, there is no fee but they ask that you pay what you thought it was worth, it's a simplified version of the Muckross country farm idea

A fantastic step back in time, but the best part is the family hospitality and the Irish sense of humour.
I could not recommend this any more highly. The food, the farm and the theatrics all made a memorable experience.

HF guided walking holiday night out included Irish stew, Gaelic coffee & "the American wake" absolutely hilarious. Got us all on our feet dancing! 5 stars.
