Owner description: Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

My husband and I were on our way to Muckross house and decided to stop for some tea. This was a lovely little spot but we noticed there was much more that just a little tea house. It was a working farm and sold gifts.

Nice walking through the farm to view a little history. The rain and fog did shorten our visit a little but it was still very informative.

Good little place to stop for a coffee, although I think it was instant. Very atmospheric and they certainly had worked hard at building up the attraction, the small frontage belies what behind it. Does anyone evey buy an Arran sweater when they go to Ireland?

We had a great visit to the this little cottage and farm. The view if you walk up to the top of the farm is beautiful. It is just a fun stop to see an example of how things were done a hundred or so years ago. There is a little film about Mary and the cottage is interesting to see. There is a good shop and little restaurant as well. I cannot comment on the food as we were on our way to somewhere else so we stopped for a short while and did not eat there. We were asked for a donation not a flat fee.

Molly Gallivan's
On N71 from Kilmare to Glengarrif sits a glittering little gem. Operated and maintained by Stephen O'Sullivan and his family is the cottage and farm formerly occupied by Molly Gallivan, a bootlegger, illegal hooch-seller and single Mom who raised seven kids and managed a working farm. Good on her, I say. The craft store is well stocked and the tea-room is charming.  The donation-only self-guided farm tour covers the history of the region, features domestic animals, Druid history and includes a superb Audio-visual program which would demand a substantial fee elsewhere. The personable and conscientious proprietor could use some marketing advice to maximize revenues and help him with his labour of love that preserves a beautiful snippet of Irish history. On this road, don't miss it.
