Owner description: Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Molly Gallivan's on our way to visit Co. Cork. It had a charming gift shop, a nice walking tour and the shop keeper was a true pleasure to speak with! Your visit wouldn't be complete without a shot of poitin! We will surely remember this part of trip to Ireland! The donkeys followed us along the entire famine walk!

The shop sells a good selection of Irish crafts but much of it is pricey. We visited the farm during the day, which was quite interesting, and did the Homecoming experience in the evening. I can appreciate what the people at Molly Gallivan’s are trying to do with the Homecoming but am not sure it completely succeeds. The idea follows the same format as other Irish entertainment evenings I’ve been to – a meal followed by live music, humorous tales and dancing. The difference here is that, using the rustic setting of a private home from the past, the event is presented as stepping back in time to a private party. The food was good but the rest would work better if you weren’t so aware of how scripted the whole thing was with lines being fluffed and entertainers checking the running order. The entertainers, with the exception of the three older musicians, seemed to be enthusiastic amateurs rather than professionals. I would have felt more comfortable if the whole came with an amateur production price tag but at 96 euros for 2 people, this didn’t seem to be the case. So, overall, it was enjoyable but pricey for what it was.

Loved this restaurant/retail shop tremendously! They have lots of local artisan and true Irish souvenirs and lovely objects and all are reasonably priced. The proprietor is so friendly & informative. Food & tea is fabulous. My sister & I stopped by 3 times!!

Visited Molly Gallivan's for the "American Homecoming" a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun! I would highly recommend it for anyone traveling in the area. It was an evening of great food, music, drink, dancing, and storytelling.

We attended the American Wake/Irish Homecoming last week, and it was one of the top highlights of our trip. The evening started with the history of the Molly Gallivan cottage and a demonstration of how potcheen is made, including a chance to try the once illegal drink. A delicious traditional Irish dinner came next followed by a reinactment of an Irish son who left for America during the potato famine returning to visit his family after being away for 35 years. There is great music, storytelling, and dancing. Audience participation is encouraged, which makes it all the more fun. The actors were wonderful and all of the staff were incredible friendly and welcoming. They also have a wide variety of items in their gift store. We had a great time and highly recommend it to others.
