“Kenmare's Finest”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

Beats all other restaurants in Kenmare - at least all the others that I managed to sample.

Food was fabulous - particularly if you like your seafood; the wine was top notch; the service was great and the children were welcomed.

But be warned... this is a great restaurant and is very popular. Book in advance!

“Nice food, good service but high on price”
Reviewed June 23, 2010

We decided to go to Packies after getting the tip from Tripadvisor, we were really hungry and decided to push the boat out for a nice meal.
When we went in we were immediately greeted and shown to a table by the staff which was nice. We were brought some really nice fresh bread and water right away.
The starters were very good, and we were looking forward to the main course, however when they came - although it was tasty and very fresh, just some how it felt like it didnt appear the best value , desserts were good and filling though.
The service was very good , with local Irish staff and very attentive.
we paid 100 Euro for dinner (no drinks) but just felt it maybe wasnt worth it.
Overall it was good and would recommend, but perhaps the main courses ate over 30 Euro each could have been better value for what we got.

“Fantastic Find”
Reviewed June 4, 2010

Stopped of in Kenmare on way back from Dingle Bay, had a walk around the town first to scout out a nice place to eat, the menu displayed outside grabbed our attention above and beyond all others in kenmere. We were lucky to get in as soon after seating they were turning people away. Service was fantastic with bread and water being placed on the table without any requests. The selection of food was fantastic and choosing a selection proved problematic, with a mixture of traditional irish cooking and well presented fish dishes. Portions were exactly right and the deserts superb, can not recomend this restaraunt enough and from other reviews and what we saw I would say booking would be a necessety (we dined on a Tuesday evening and was full by 6-30)

“Loved This Place”
Reviewed June 2, 2010

I tried to write a review of this restaurant a while back, but at that time Tripadvisor was not providing reviews of foreign restaurants! Now I can say what a wonderful experience we had here on our trip to Ireland.

My spouse and I stumbled upon Packie's after an exhausting flight to Ireland and a drive from Killarney to Kenmare. It was raining, and we ducked into this restaurant a bit early in the evening. What a nice surprise. The staff was very welcoming and cordial. The restaurant was charming, small, and intimate. The food was fabulous. The fish was delicious and the brown bread was the best we had in Ireland. It wasn't a grand meal; it was the perfect meal. I would love to go here again.

Tips: 1) Kenmare is charming. If you are interested in shopping, there are wonderful shops for linens and knits. 2) Cahernane House in Killarney is a fine old estate hotel if you wish to stay there. Their breakfast was the best we had in Ireland, and the staff was wonderful.

I love Ireland.
