Just spent 3 nights in the lap of luxury! The staff are so friendly & always willing to assist. ...All men are called 'John'..almost? Went on the Wilderness Hike with John ( driver John also) a fountain of knowledge, made the hike really interesting. The spa is well worth a visit & pool excellent for the swimmers. Our room, superior, had everything, with views to die for. Evening meal is an experiencef food delicious. And we had the pleasure of meeting John, Francis away!!

Room Tip: Ask for mountain & river view

The hotel is home away from home, felt very comfortable there. Not one piece of dust anywhere. Pure luxury. Staff extremely friendly (but not over the top) and helpful. Decour is old-fashioned but beautiful. Huge comfortable bed (superior room) and large sitting area with beautiful views. Did not have evening meal but was not too expensive (menu was a bit fancy for me - plain food eater). Breakfast was very nice, especially the black pudding from Sneem. Night time bar had staff member playing the piano, beautiful music in background giving a chance for chat. Did not use the spa area but large variety of services offered. Gardens also beautiful. Did not get to meet Francis Brennan (unfortunately), but will def return, well worth the amount paid (as a special treat)

Room Tip: Room 310 - great view

We spent two nights in this gorgeous town. The hotel is top tier. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The entire place is spotless. The staff is friendly and efficient. One of our friends enjoyed the golf course. The head bartender has been there for 34 years-if you want to learn about whiskey be prepared to spend some quality time listening to him talk! The restaurant is fabulous as well, both for breakfast and dinner. You are across the street from the Main Street in Kensington and shopping is but a short walk.

We stayed here at the end of August during a swing of Western Ireland doing a drive of Dingle and Ring of Kerry. Both were stunning drives. Make sure you get off the beaten path and cut across the mountains... On to the hotel...
Room: Awesome. We had what I guess you can call a mini suite. Our sitting area looked right out over the garden.
Grounds and walking: Nice little park behind with some good, easy trails. The day we left they were having a hike from up the Kerry Way back down to the hotel. We would have loved it but we didn't have time nor boots. (If you plan to do much real walking or hiking you need proper boots).
Breakfast was average for Ireland - not bad, not great.
Staff: Very nice and helpful. They even washed our car's windshield the morning we left - a nice touch (but you should expect that for $500+ USD / night.
Pool: We took a swim in their awesome lap pool. You really have to check this out - a 25M long stainless steel pool.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the garden.

This was our third visit to the Park Hotel , Kenmare and once again we were not at all dissappointed.
The staff at this hotel should be given a five star award, everyone we came in contact with was a delight, happy in their place of work and it shows.
Its hard for hotels to get the measure just right but from the warm welcome on check in to the beautiful well appointed room overlooking the bay, to the friendly bar service to the simply FANTASTIC dining expierence........we were in heaven.
Afternoon tea was a delight and set us up for a long walk around the grounds of this wonderful gem of a hotel.
The parks has old fashioned values long lost in other hotels, may it long continue and I for one will be back and will keep spreading the good word on this hotel
Thanks to all at The Parks and see you next year for sure .........

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the bay, they are to die for..........

I stayed at the Kenmare Park Hotel at the end of June. Kenmare is a delightful, busy and prosperous town in south west Ireland, and the Kenmare Park Hotel sits at the top of the hill, above it. There is a nice driveway and approach from the town, and the situation and building itself is impressive. The welcome from the staff seems very genuine and they are both efficient and charming. However, I was astonished by the dated decor, especially given that the hotel has won some sort of award from Conde Nast, the general palate of colours in many of the rooms seems to be sludge green, combined with swirly carpets and very rickety reproduction antique furniture. The bathroom in my suite was spotlessly clean, with lashings of hot water, but really very worn, for a hotel boasting such high calibre. The food was good, in terms of flavour, but the choice limited, the serving sizes minute, it was unimaginative and very expensive. Given the availability of wonderful local produce, particularly seafood, it seemed to be a missed opportunity. The kitchen appears to close at 9pm, the poor girl serving our dinner had to source and serve our desert course from the kitchen herself, as the others had gone home, at about 9.20. The hotel has wonderful staff, and they really deserve better. I understand there has been a change of chef since June, I hope this has improved matters. By the way I have never slept on such revoltingly sweaty mattresses in my life, hardly best quality pocket sprung comfort....

My wife and i stayed in the park hotel for the one night and that was enough. Where to start?? The car park is un kept and messy. When we arrived to our room god we were over whelmed by the smell of must, the room was small and not even close to a 5 star. we decided to have dinner, the canapes we received while we read the menu was a nice touch and we were tasty so we expected a good meal. But it all went down hill, the breads are in miniature loafs but are messy and awkward, which were stale. The starters were presented nicely and was the highlight of our meal,i had the cannaloli and my wife had the crab.we waited 45 minutes - 1 hour for our main course and when we finally got them they were luke warm with only 1 type of veg.We would have sent it back but didnt fancy the waiting, the lemon sole was fresh but was over cooked and the chicken was just boring and bland.we eat out a lot and it this was one of our least favorite meals. Desserts again weren't anything special, the creme Carmel was under set and the opera cake was dry,the petit fours soggy and uneatable. the meal came to €220 for two of us so we were furious,it was not worth that sort of money. The staff were fake and stiff. We went for a swim the next morning and the pool was just amazing, the spa was the highlight of our trip as it was built only a few years ago.Breakfast was good, fast service and plenty of variety. The pancakes with berries, cream and maple syrup were a delight. we visit kenmare a lot as were have old friends here and wont be staying in the park ever again but may book a spa day.Maybe this place was 5 star once upon a time but its no way close to it now.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Dating back to 1897, heritage and luxury are combined at the Park Hotel Kenmare to create a gracious home, that is yours to enjoy. A vibrant hotel with wonderful facilities like our Deluxe Destination Spa SÁMAS, SISLEY Treatments, 25mt Lap Pool, Cinema box and Daily Lifestyle Classes, but a place where we are not ashamed to be old fashioned. This Victorian landmark, dating from 1897, with its splendid views over the glistening waters of Kenmare Bay, the ever changing light of the Cork and Kerry Mountains, the adjoining 18 hole golf course, garden walks and the Heritage Town of Kenmare is home to one of Ireland’s finest hotels. Tradition, in every sense, is important to us, as is the fun of today, the devilment of a younger guest, the delight of a couple holding hands and the delivery of true service. It is a rare place where the decadence of the past is married with the modernism of today. ... more   less
