“Best chips in Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

I've eaten in many places in Ireland and have never found any that could cook a great chip, until now! The village Bistro is a great example as to how chips should be cooked, home made and not from a freezer. I had the scampy and they were cooked to perfection and the salad and mushy peas finished off a great meal. The service received was very attentive and friendly and the lager was nice and cold, just how I like it. Won't think twice about goinmg there again.

“Good for a quick lunch or snack”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

The landlady was very friendly, accommodating our special requests and making sure we were well looked after. We ate on the terrace, as it was a beautiful day, and the food was good and fresh -both of us had salads.

“A private expereince”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

We had the opportunity to visit The Village Bistro on our last evening on the peninsula. We were the only guests in the restaurant. We ordered a pizza and had a couple pints of "the best Guiness". The owner chatted with us for the longest time, well after when he should have closed and gone home. A great find!!

“A Treasure Discovered”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

Having spent our vacations in Castlegregory more than a dozen times, it is hard to believe that this was our first visit to The Village Bistro. I We probably passed it by at least a hundred times and can only surmise that it was it's understated appearance that never caught our attention. However our first visit resulted in a very, very pleasant surprise. Our selections of ‘Fish of the Day’ (Cod) and Special of the Day (Strip Streak) turned out to be brilliant choices. While the wait for the meal seemed long, the steak was large and thick-cut, while the fish portion was all one could desire. Accompanied by very generous helping of vegetables (absolutely delicious peas and carrots), baked potato and home-made French Fries (to die for), the entire meal was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly, helpful and most accommodating. In summary, we left with our hunger totally sated, very satisfied and all at a reasonable price too. Next time we are in Castlegregory, guess where our first restaurant stop will be?

“A Hidden Gem in Castlegregory”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

We recently visited Castlegregory to have a meal with my brother and his wife on holidays from Chicago. Ther were six of us and just by chance we were in the village bistro. We all ordered either fresh cod or steaks. Whille it took a bit long to prepare it was well worth the wait. Each meal was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was very efficient and friendly and overall it was excellent. We would highly recommend it.
