“Paradise on a budget”
Reviewed August 30, 2010

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a driving holiday exploring Ireland. We had heard about the area from a friend who had family there but we didn't know what to expect. Ballyheigue is simple and stunning. The view from the B & B is beautiful. All rooms have a seaview. The rooms are basic but comfortable. They could do with updating but we hardly spent time in our room. The B & B is right by the beach with lovely walks and so much to see, We had a family room which was adequate for us and our 16 year old daughter, What we loved about O'Neill's was that the family who run it were so warm and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully cooked and again the view was there to enjoy. The sodabread was unforgettable and the best we tasted in Ireland. The village consists of a butchers, hairdressers, food shops, 2 or 3 pubs and golf if thats' your thing. We had just missed the summer festival which included a pig race on the beach. Catch it on youtube. Not far from the B & B in Ardfert was our favourite pub Kate Brownes where we heard some great Irish music. Kerry is beautiful. We drove to Dingle and loved driving over the Connor Pass and then going on a boat trip to meet Funghie the dolphin. Use O'Neills as a base for a holiday in Kerry or just enjoy being 'off the beaten track' and enjoy the natural beauty of a real Irish seaside and great hospitality. They also offer self catering accommodation again with those great sea views. After O'Neills we stayed in a castle - we wished we had stayed in Kerry for a bit longer instead
