We had a wonderful 5 night stay at The Rise over new years. We stayed in a waterfront villa and it was HUGE! Of course the view was exceptional and we had our own private plunge pool which the kids loved. We also tried out the common pool which is very large and nice. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially Nick and the handyman (whose name we didn't catch). The property has been unoccupied for 8 years and only recently reopened so some of the utilities (dishwasher, washing machine) hadn't been used once in all those years so there were a few things that weren't working on first try. But the staff were quick to repair anything that needed attention.
Most impressively, I forgot our passports in the safe when we left, and the reception staff went above and beyond to ensure the passports got mailed to us asap so that we would have them for our onward international flight less than a week later! We are VERY grateful for all their help. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a hotel in the area! But get a rental car as it's too far to walk into Airlie Beach (approx 20-30 min walk) in the hot hot sun!
There's a great little cafe down the road (fat frog) which has great coffee and food -- avoid the terrible coffee near the supermarket at all costs!More
