“Thrice as Nice”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

The fact that this was our third visit in four years is testament alone to how we feel about this place. The moment you leave you will want to be planning your return visit.
It’s fitting that autocorrect tries to change Huvafen to Heaven! This is the word most often used when family and friends see our pictures. We will never get bored of the view from the float plane as we approach the tiny strip of sand set in the azure and turquoise coloured lagoon.
The relaxation starts as soon as we get our toes in the powdery sand of Stingray beach. As always we were met there by senior management and given a refreshing welcome drink and cold towel.
We tried a different type of villa this stay, opting for the Beach Villa, after staying in both types of overwater villas during the previous trips. We both liked the change, spending more time on the beach than we had in the past.
We always find the in-villa dining to be excellent, along with the consistently good Salt and Raw restaurants. The cocktail selection at both UmBar and the Sunset Deck at Raw has expanded since our last visit, and we enjoyed different selections each night.
Our Thakuru, Makif, was always cheerful, helpful and went out of his way to create a memorable stay. One evening he surprised us with private drinks at sunset on the Salt beach surrounded by candles.
A couple of new experiences on this trip were Adopt-a-Coral and SpaQuarium. Both were great fun and we would highly recommend them. We will certainly be doing them again.
We did our usual daily hour long jet ski, this time taking in all the sandbanks within a 20km radius and spending about 8 hours out on the water in total. We spend a lot of time with the Float team on each visit and always have a wonderful experience, Ageel and the whole team is professional, helpful and welcoming to special requests.
We would also like to thank Jay for making our last day very relaxing with a late departure straight from the villa to the boat.

This was our third visit to the property in 3 years. First year was as close to faultless as I have ever experienced. Second year was a serious let down ; poor food, staff didn't really seem to be "on point" and manager didn't really seem to care. So it was with a little trepidation that we decided to give it one last try and we were not disappointed. The food was spectacular from breakfast through to dinner. The staff were unbelievably attentive but not intrusive. Both Jay and Manish did everything they could to make sure we were happy, and they succeeded. Thank you. This is a very chilled hotel where "no shoes" is the mantra and all the guests just float around looking relaxed and happy. I would suggest that should you be lucky enough to stay on the island, you take a water villa with a sunset view (a little more expensive but well worth it) and don't bother with half board. They only offer you a 25% discount in the other restaurants or room service if you don't go with the HB option which is either Clesius restaurant or a beach barbecue ( 3 out of every 7 nights). So in conclusion, back to their best and we'll be back....Stephen and Jill

Dear Stephen and Jill,

To have you return to Huvafen Fushi was great for the entire team. It is so nice for us to see a familiar face show up again, and to see that coincide with your lovely comments on Jay, Manish and all that make our island a patch of paradise. We always try to make you feel that we care about the food we serve, receive and handle your feedback and the way build a relaxing experience for you.

So we are grateful for the generous compliments to the team and our "dream on Island".

Needless to say we'd love to have you back and have you experience a great time again!

This trip was our first to the Maldives. My husband and I prefer beach vacations and Huvafen Fushi was recommended by our travel agent. I have a few mobility challenges and use a rollator. This resort gets a B+ for accessibility and where it is lacking the resort makes up with their service.

We stayed in the ocean bungalow and the accommodations were outstanding. My husband ventured into the ocean twice from the bungalow and, based on his experience, we decided the current was a bit too strong for me. Bring swim shoes if you want to try it as the sea floor is a bit rocky.

Our butler, Imma, provided a cart for all of our treks to the restaurants. There are a few steps to Celscius with no handrails, so after the first day we were seated outside under the trees. Imma backed the cart right up to the table so that it was literally two steps for me.

My hubby had a birthday during his stay and Imma delivered both flowers and a cake, telling hubby that they were delivered at my request (hah!). The level of service really differentiates this resort.

I *loved* the underwater spa and enjoyed a face up massage, which allowed me to watch the sea life!!

Overall an outstanding vacation and worth the trek to get there!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Bungalow 42 which was one of the first ocean bungalows...interestingly enough we had to...

Dearest Rebecca,

Imma, the team and myself are priviledged to make special moments a reality. Limitations should never give you a restricted experience and we are glad that you have felt that way at Huvafen Fushi. To have pristine sandy beaches and winding sandy pathways add to the atmosphere and an idyllic setting. Food, service and all other things that matter are gladly appreciated and make it special for all of us to make an effort for.

Many greetings from Imma and all of us at Huvafen Fushi,

This review is a little late but still worth writing.

My wife and I spent 2 nights on the island during our honeymoon. Isam was our Thakuru and the way we were treated during our stay was simply amazing.

We were lucky enough to stay in the "Cube" which was stunning. Having more space was good and the outdoor area and pool was fantastic.

Both of us wish that we could have spent more time on the island and if we were to go again this would be the case. If you like holidays where the food is great and you can simply relax and lie on the beach or the numerous lounges then this is the place for you.

If you're into photography the view will never cease to amaze you as you will see in the photo's attached that I took.

Thanks for memories that will last a lifetime.

Dear Evan & Renee,

What a pleasure to read such positive comments on your stay in September. Isam and the Team are glad to relive the great pleasure of having you stay here in "CUBE" and we are glad to know that you have fully enjoyed the setting and atmosphere here on our patch of "Paradise". Even if you describe it as a once in lifetime experience/ worth every penny; we'd love to have you return to Huvafen Fushi anytime soon.

Meanwhile take care & warm regards from all of us,

From the moment we boarded the HF boat and saw the beautiful furnishings and level of service we knew we were heading to a special place. Everything about HF was perfect…the food, the service, Dive Center, spa, gym, house reef and most importantly the staff.

We stayed 5 nights in December at a Lagoon Bungalow. Prior to our arrival I had emailed the resort and requested a room from # 24 to # 27 but due to full capacity we were allocated room # 22. However, the following day we were moved to room # 26 once the guests there had checked out. I’d like to thank our Thakuru Zeina, the GM Marco and his assistant Manish for accommodating our request.

The reason we wanted to stay in that area (which is further down the jetty) because it has an unobstructed view of the open lagoon and ocean with no boats anchored in front unlike rooms # 18 to # 23 where the view is usually obstructed by the boats anchored in the lagoon. At certain times there could be upwards of 9 boats anchored. Of course this is a matter of personal preference. (Refer to the pics below)

Also, I was actually surprised to see that the Lagoon Bungalow, which is the smaller sized room compared to the larger Ocean Bungalows, is quite large and spacious.

HF is the 5th Maldivian resort we’ve visited in the last 4 years and the most lively and active. Just our type of place. Live music at dinner, beach soccer matches with staff, daily stingray feeding, active and busy main pool area, etc. Also the gym is probably the most beautiful gym in the Maldives in terms of location being right over water with an amazing 360 degree view of the ocean.

I do have one area of criticism though. It was made very clear to us by the marine staff that snorkeling is only allowed in a certain area marked with buoys at each end. This area was only about a 100m stretch in my estimate, which is quite short compared to other resorts. All the other resorts we’ve visited have a “recommended” snorkeling area but you are free to snorkel wherever you want as long it’s away from boat traffic.

I’d like to thank Hassan for keeping our room spotless and Jay with his infectious smile. Also thanks to Hamdoun, Rona, Chiney and finally the dive center manager Peter and his great team for all the amazing dives we had and boy did they try their best to find me a Manta but hopefully next time we’ll succeed. ;-)

Room Tip: Lagoon bungalows are more than enough (no need to book the bigger ocean bungalow). Bungalows 24 to...

Dear B.,

We are glad to learn that you have thoroughly enjoyed your stay at Huvafen Fushi. For the team it is extremely rewarding to see your personal appreciation towards their efforts so many thanks for making time to write that down.
We are glad to see that you have enjoyed our "laid-back" atmosphere with good food, music, beach soccer and our upgraded Gym. As for the snorkeling we have taken note of your comments and I agree with your suggestion; in fact we do have "recommended snorkeling area" and do not want to oblige you to restrict yourself to that area solely. We will clarify that to future guests going forward, so thanks for letting us know.
Lastly Zaina, Rona, Hamdoun, Chainy, Manish and Peter miss you on the Island and look forward to having you back here shortly.

Warm regards,

All of us at Huvafen Fushi!

Dear A.,

We much appreciate your great comments on our food, breakfast, beautiful reef and team. On staying longer than 7 days...I'd like to challenge you to try it :)! Many guests that do have the opportunity to do that kick into a whole new level of "recharging" and do enjoy it a lot.
But this is personal and entirely depends on the purpose of your stay. From our side we always feel privileged to see guests have a good time, regardless.
Once again I'd like to thank you for your time spent with us and for the appreciation that you have shown towards our offerings and service!
