“Outstanding cottage in stunning surroundings”
Reviewed June 9, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

This lovely cottage lived up to its 5-star billing. Everything was spotless and welcoming. The owners went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We wouldn't hesitate to choose this property again.

We had a mixture of sunny and very wet weather, but the cottage is so well located in the lovely village of Litton that you didn't have to go far to find something to do, whatever the weather.

The Red Lion pub across the road from the cottage was very welcoming to new visitors and their food was excellent. The local shop/post office was charming and again the staff were so friendly.

“A visit to Candlelight Cottage”
Reviewed March 6, 2012 for a stay in March 2012

Very clean & tidy cottage in an idyllic location.
The owner Simon was very friendly and gave recommendations on where to eat / what to do. The cottage is a perfect size for two couples & is nicely furnished
Opposite the cottage is a great pub - The Red Lion. The food & drink was very good, as was the service.
Excellent location for stunning walks in the Peak District

“a very neat, cosy, comfortable cottage in a great location”
Reviewed February 28, 2012 for a stay in February 2012

This cottage is so beautiful, the photo's on the website barely do it justice. It is so tastefully and comfortably decorated. I stayed at the cottage with my husband and so we did not need the second bedroom, but what I would say is that this cottage could easily accomodate 4 unlike other cottages we have stayed in. The second bedroom is a great size and the dining and longe areas are all geared up for at least 4 people. The kitchen is lovely and light and with the added bonus of an Aga, which although I did not cook on, was a great hand warmer when coming back from a walk.
The cottage is in a great location, really central and with a great local pub across the road. The pub serves good honest pub food and is warm and friendly. Book a table though, each time we went in it was full to the rafters with locals and walkers. The village shop has the essentials and the people running it are friendly and helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be back sometime.
Thanks to Simon and Jill for their very warm welcome and for the lovely goodies on arrival.

“Great Cottage Lovely Location”

Just returned from a short break in this great cottage. We were given a personal welcome by Jill who had been patiently waiting for us as we ran an hour late. Jill showed us around and made sure we were aware of all the cottage has to offer and the local area. This helped us to settle in. The cottage is very clean and well kept, the bedrooms are great, the front bedroom is a twin that overlooks the green the double at the back has a nice view across the peaks and is very quite and relaxing. The kitchin is well equipted with both an arga and a cooker, we didnt use either on this stay but would certainly be tempted to use the arga if in the cottage for longer. In short it was a lovely welcome in a great cottage. The location is great to visit the peak district with many opportunities to enjoy walks in the area and around the village. The village has one pub - The Red Lion, it serves good food and ale and the staff are very friendly. If you're looking for a visit in the peak district this is certainly a place that you should try

“Fabulous cottage in an ideal setting”
Reviewed January 4, 2012 for a stay in January 2012

We stayed at Candlelight Cottage over the New Year period and I have to say it was one of the best trips we've been on. The owners were exceptionally helpful in answering questions before the booking and really went out of their way to provide a lovely, cosy environment.

The cottage itself is luxury with everything you could ever need for a self catering break. The added welcome pack of champagne, chocolates and fresh flowers in the rooms provided a wonderful welcome. Situated in the heart of Litton Village the cottage provides an ideal base for exploring the numerous walks around the area or for exploring other towns in the Peak District.

The Red Lion pub in Litton Village is a must visit, with warm cosy fires, fabulous food and very welcoming locals.

We had a fantastic time in the cottage and will certainly be returning in the near future!

“Lovely cottage in a great location!”
Reviewed September 10, 2011 for a stay in September 2011

Candlelight Cottage is everything it should be! It's really well kept, beautifully clean and very well equipped. The location is ideal for getting to all the main tourist attractions, lovely market towns, quaint villages, stately homes and gardens.

There is plenty of information for every kind of tourist in the cottage with suggestions of places and towns to visit, walks to do, places to eat and much more.

Litton is a quiet village with a good pub (opposite the cottage, 2 minutes walk) with great food and puddings to pile the pounds on!

A great place for a peaceful break.
