Our group consisted of a family of 12. Many of us are keen tennis players, so the private tennis court was ideal. We also very much enjoyed the table tennis table and the grand piano.
The property is in a remote location and It is the view that makes it special - that and the exceptional swimming pool, which is deep because it was built for a diver.
The accommodation itself does the job, but lacks luxury and elegance, In our case that wasn't a problem because we had a couple of small kids, so we didn't have to worry about them knocking over a Ming vase or similar! The facilities were just adequate.
Last year, we rented a home in the Dordogne where the owners were clearly professional holiday owner-managers. The management there was absolutely spot on, which wasn't the case here.
Here it was their own property that they were renting out on short, holiday lets to make a few extra bucks. As such, the management was seriously amateurish - but they were friendly and did try hard.
The cleanliness on arrival was really bad. We couldn't use anything in the kitchen without thoroughly washing it first because EVERYTHING was dirty. We left everything much cleaner than we found it!
Plus, we suffered multiple roof leaks in the annex which really spoilt one of our nights when there was heavy rain. Fortunately we only had to endure one such night.
The owners tried their best to respond to maintenance issues. However, it's difficult to believe that they weren't aware of the leaky annex roof before we arrived!
The place isn't perfect, but overall, for a large family group such as ours, the price was reasonable with the exception of the extra linen charge which isn't justifiable.
