We stayed this weekend at The Gables with some friends, for a wedding we were attending locally. The lady was friendly, however the place is in real need of some investment/ repairs, it seems a bit uncared for.
Our room was really small and the bed lumpy and squeaky, with pictures falling off the wall. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower in our room was either boiling of freezing. Our friend's shower came out as a fine mist (she rinsed her hair over the sink!) and another friend's shower had no hot water at all. There were a few sachets of shampoo etc in the bathroom which had come free with a magazine and were old and yellow.
When we went for breakfast here was water coming through the ceiling into the breakfast room. It had clearly happened before, as the ceiling was patched up. A towel was put down to soak up the water, which everyone had to walk across as it was in the doorway. The hole in the ceiling was right next to the light and when the light fitting filled of water, we had to ask for it to be switched off as it was looking dangerous! The breakfast was fine, there were cereals, orange juice, tea/coffee and a cooked breakfast that was nothing special.
So, all in all, not a stay we would want to repeat - especially not at £70 for the night!!
